Whilst I appreciate the service, she was completely counter productive to the cause. She was given much more stick than other politicians for her gaffes but she did make a lot of ridiculous statements and was quite toxic to a lot of voters.
That doesn't rebuff what i've already said. Again, if Jeremy Corbyn goes on TV and makes a mistake, you think he doesn't get no end of stick?
You seem to fail to see the difference in what one person said on TV and where she is now vs a bloke with a decade of poor choices that have actually cost money and where he is now. I don’t remember BJ having front page stories for his actions and failures.
Good to see you are insistent on avoiding the point as clear as day as per usual though.

Those are all right-leaning publications. Boris Johnson is a Conservative, Diane Abbott is Labour. Of course they are going to criticise Abbott and not Johnson.
So the test to understand if it is politics or race that is the difference is whether they would criticise Corbyn, a white man, and I think we both know there are a huge number of newspaper headlines in right-leaning publications criticising Corbyn.
And looking more closely at your pictures, I see that it says Amber Rudd is not criticised, so your own evidence has taken being female out of the equation!

As I understand it Diane Abbott is the most racially abused MP in the commons. Some of the hate mail sent to her is absolutely vile and the senders should be locked up.
However, you are mistaking criticism and mockery from right leaning media outlets for racism. The reason Abbott’s gaffes are more widely reported than those by Tories in your meme is that the right wing press outnumbers the left wing press by something like 3 to 1.
So for every Mirror or Guardian attack on Johnson’s incompetence there are three attacks on the likes of Abbott by the Mail, Torygraph, Times, Express etc.
Priti Patel has quite rightly come in for a lot of stick from left leaning media. They haven’t attacked her because if her colour but because she’s an awful human being who doesn’t appear to be very good at her job.
Can we please stop using her gender and race as an excuse for her. She is a waste of space, end of. No intellectual horsepower or gravitas for such an office of State as Home Secretary!
Can we just stick to the ability and ignore everything else.
She is stealing a living as an MP. I can't quite believe the lengths Labour supporters are going to give her credibility. Astonishing.
Assumption is to make an ass out of you and me.
Those who assume they know you, when they don't are just guessing.
Those who assume and insist they know are daft and in denial.
Those who assume, insist, and deny the truth are plain stupid.
Those who assume, insist, deny the truth and tell YOU they know you (when they don't) have an IQ in the range of 35-49.

You take completely the opposite side for Luciana Berger, Ruth Smeeth and Margaret Hodge.
Not surprisingly the majority of the abuse against them, against Abbott, Rayner, Soubry et al was coming from the same place.
I would think Soubry has received more death threats for her remainer antics than Abbott has received for her gaffes, but total death threats (sounds awful to frame it as some kind of league table) I think could you could be right, because Abbott may possibly receive them from pure racists just targeting prominent Labour MPs whereas Soubry would presumably receive none of this kind.
I think my former estimation is more relevant to the topic than my latter one.

I think singling out Abbott for incompetence (when the government at the time and now shows real and persistent feckwittery) says a bit too much about UK culture.

The right.
In what way. Berger, Smeeth and Hodge were attacked for their Jewishness on Social media and in the form of written death threats. None of them were abused in the MSM because they were crap at their jobs.
I’ve always been consistent on the vile racist abuse that Diane Abbott receives.

Your trying to shoehorn in a point here and failing massively.

And massively the abuse and death threats are coming from the far right, as you consistently and conveniently fail to point out.
That was overwhelmingly the case for incidents involving Berger, Smeeth and Hodge but you pretended it wasn’t.
Hope Not Hate should be all over you as an apologist for racism. But that’s not their style either.

She is widely respected in her constituency. It's them she has answered to for the last 33 years and she has been continually re-elected.
Can we just stick to the ability and ignore everything else?
I can't quite believe the lengths you are going to so you can undeservedly slate her as an MP. Astonishing.
Doesn't she have a good reputation as a constituency MP?
That's probably more her calling and possibly where Corbyn should have stayed too.
Some people are suited to those roles and will fight tooth and nail for their constituents.
Well I may have to defer to Hammy’s knowledge, but according to different people, including a journalist I once chatted too, she can be very effective in helping the people she is paid to represent.
Since most politicians can get things wrong in public, there is probably a criteria that Hammy is using.
Hopefully he has taken into account that shadow ministers are paid the standard MP’s salary.
So if she is stealing a living from the public purse, then, a rational person would compare her performance against what she is paid to do against what she actually does in a measurable way.
Hammy will clearly be able to better explain than I can, how she has not carried out her role as an MP for the last 30 or so years.
i understand the reason you saying this, but unfortunately she was under a microscope from the r.w. press all the time.then if she made a gaffe it would even be highlighted on here. she wasn't even in government, but i suppose some would say thats why it was highlighted to show she wasn't fit for government. still it did stop this one from holding the highest government position in the land

“And that is why the Human Right Act should go”
Even when they’re as triumphantly inane and wrong as May was, there’s a creeping disdain for actual human rights that is deeply concerning.
But it’s the absence of genuine criticism from the press and public along the way that is an even bigger concern.

Because human rights were something that stopped mass murderers from being charged, allowed black people to be exampt from buying a TV license and were a constant erosion on the 'British way of life'
To them there is not any understanding of the link to that decleration in 1948 and the photos taken of thousands of emmaciated corpses in the killing camps of WW2
nor any understanding that it is " the most translated document in the world - and has inspired the constitutions of many newly independent States and many new democracies."
because that does not fit with their need to have a convenient cause for their paranoia and personal faillure

I'm pretty sure quite a few of us on here have said she's not fit for the front bench, we're not trying to go to lengths to give her credibility.

Among the current bunch of rabble rousing charlatans, I sometimes forget how nasty May was as Home Secretary.
