Our approach to transfers this summer 08:13 - Jul 3 with 3525 viewsJudgealdinho31

With the exception of KVY. Woolfenden and Downes and younger players like Dobra/ El Mouzini etc I personally would be willing to part with any of our squad this summer given the way the market is...

That is not to say I think e will manage to hang on to downes anyway this summer (more chance now of keeping LW) but when it comes to players like Edwards, Jackson, Nolan, Huws, Judge etc I’d absolute take cash offers (not that I’m saying there will be interest in some of those!)

Having seen some of the players released from lg 2 clubs (see Northampton released the CB Turnball yesterday who looked decent alongside Goode) we need to use this as an opportunity to freshen up the squad and I think that can be done without breaking the bank due to other clubs being in an even more difficult situation than us - we have to maximise that whilst we can!

God knows what we are going to do with players like Nsiala who we won’t be able to sell and having seen his performances for Bolton, no lg1 team will touch him with a barge pole!

What will you change your name to if Judge leaves?

Edwardsdinho?
Nolandinho?
Kenlockdinho?

The options are endless

My hobbies include being quiet during trips, clapping with songs, and diabetes.

Ha, in fairness I changed it when we first signed him and I (like many) thought he was going to be an absolute star...

Think I may be in need of a change!

Try not to pick one of our better players, you might curse them too!

Any of the like:

Nolan
Judge
Nsiala
Jackson

I would take cash for all as long as adequate replacements were made.

Ross Turnbull was solid for Northampton, left footed, but Charlie Goode was the star.

I would not like to see James Norwood leave, he will be a very important player next season, there is a question about if we need another "big man" type striker as well.

Who is going to give us cash for the players you've mentioned? Jackson maybe but it'll be less than a third of what we paid for him, and he was one of the positives last season.

And who is going to pay those players what they are on here?

I think our hands are fairly tied personally. We won't have much wriggle room with the squad.

Who knows what a CoVid transfer window looks like

A few canny freebies might be what we end up with.

Personally I'd like to see a few senior players with some size brought in.

I know Liam Trotter has returned to the UK from the US. I'd have thought he'd be worth a punt, you'd have thought he'd do a job in League One and won't have huge wage demands?

Not sure there'll be many fees paid at this level during this close season, so offloading players probably on higher wages than would be on offer elsewhere in the division is going to be tough. I'm guessing our incomers - barring a big sale - will be frees.

Despite last season the squad is okay but I feel we need a bit more size and steel down the middle of the team

The free transfer market will be unusually vibrant this season so there must be some bargains to be had?

Therein lies the risk of transfers.

I remember fans rating Nolan and Nsiala highly before they were signed. Same goes for Norwood.

Peterborough were after Jackson and they know how to spot a good forward. Edwards and Huws looked good bets.

...not they are all seemingly on the list to leave.

Jackson got 11 goals and 7 assists last season.

May not be record breaking, but I wouldn't be too quick to get him out of the door.

I'd imagine we'd have a very static summer. We need probably another pair of full backs, probably as backups - and another CAM. I think we'd be fine otherwise. Everyone else is going to be weaker as they need to sell - and assuming we keep Downes, we should be fine.

Obviously we messed this up already, but this squad is more than good enough.

Indeed, will be a big pool of players. Probably also players available for nothing fee-wise that clubs might want to get off their books to save cash even if they'd ideally like to keep them in their squads.

People wanting rid of Jackson is a weird one. He's no world-beater but he's by far one of most our most effective players.

Agree. He's useful. I'd actually like him as an impact sub. Norwood firing is key next year. I still see a Keane or more powerful lad off him (God even Murphy at his age!). I know we don't agree on Keane.

Interesting to see what form Sears can find. He looked a bit weighty.

Some of the lads you mentioned have a part to play. If we keep Downes and argument for No lan to.go but if we sell him Nolan with more games may suprise a few. I think he's one that needs to be more a main man. Huws i would definitely keep. He's finally.got a season under his belt. He's quality and he's no longer playing catch up.

Players to release:

Kenlock
Donacian
Nsiala
Roberts (gone)
Cotter

Also gone:
Earl (consider back?)
Rowe
Keane (consider back at appropriate wage)
Norris
Garbutt

Pretty clear we need 2-3 for defence..Chambers last season i would think.

Other than that i'd go with what we have. Our new guys will effectively be: Dobra, El Mizouni, Lankaster. Morris,Folami, Drinnan to.impress pre season or go. Loan or perm.

Talented as Keane obviously is

If him going means a decent senior striker comes in, preferably a number 9 targetman, I wouldn't be too disappointed

Rowe is the one which disappoints me

Donacien I actually think is solid enough as backup, I thought he was starting to look alright before his injury but if a better right back was to replace him, I wouldn't be so disappointed

More games for Nolan, simply gives him more games to hide in. Has failed to cut it across two divisions for us now and looks like he really doesn’t want to play for us. Really hope we can move him on soon, for everyone’s sake.

I think its unfair to say he looks like he doesnt want to play for us. Has not hit any heights for sure. He's proven he can be a stand out player in this division though. I think he would benefit playing week in week out. I'd much rather downes stays though!
