Granted I wasn’t born when Thijssen played and know nothing of his style but Huntelaar is one of the great strikers of this century. He’s played for some of the biggest clubs in the land and his goalscoring ratio varies between good and outrageous.
This will be a controversial opinion without doubt but I’ve watched a few games from the 70s and 80s and the quality of football.....it doesn’t seem that great. |

To be honest though, if I had use of a time machine I probably wouldn't use it to go back and watch football matches, but then again I saw Ipswich play in the 70s and 80s, so I have no need.

Football wasn't as athletic back then or as quick but in my view it was a better game, more cut and thrust, better technical players and it was far tougher. Thijssen was a world class player, only behind Beattie and Wark in Town's history. |
