Errr, whiskey is Irish. it is whisky that is distilled in Scotland. I think Bushmills would have something to say about Scotch being passed off as whiskey...and the proofreader at Glenfiddich's label printer would definitely get the sack.

They're putting some great spin on it. Instead of fulfilling their promises to cut red tape, they're now "committed to growing the customs sector

What that also suggests is that the customs handling/broker sector is still not big enough to deal with the increased demands. Which might have huge knock-on impacts on manufacturing and trade.

Considering most of those demands come online at the end of 2020 and not during 2021, that suggests a bit of a catastrophe brewing. And ironically a lot of help with customs declarations/guidance etc. being outsourced to the EU to spread out the load.

Farcical.

In view of recent TWTD spats on threads I take it this is one of those "Did you call my pint a poof?" challenges.
I'm not going to rise to it.
Bait not taken.

You do wonder what these jokers have to do to lose power

Even, not particularly anti-Tory newspapers are being fairly critical of the government, that takes some doing!

I suspect that is because this government aren't tory enough for the likes of the Telegraph and Times. HMG is really shaking the magic money tree hard and that doesnt go down well with the tory media, especially if they think that they might end up paying towards it.

And their latest plan? Abolish the Electoral Commission because it isn't accountable to them.

You almost have to admire them with their complete disregard for the law and our democratic processes. That they were so confident that enough people would buy into their rhetoric around these things being threatened, when in reality it was just projection of their own wishes to undermine the law, parliament and now seemingly democracy itself, is ballsy to say the least. Depressing that they knew people are stupid enough for it to work, but ballsy.

There are so many fires to fight and dead cats piled up that it seems clear and deliberate. We are surrounded by so many patriots who cheer along so much treachery it's truly frightening.

I wonder just how wrecked this nation will be by the time they are out. The fact they birthed it by lying to the Queen shows how broken our system is. As backward and corrupt as any you can think of it seems.
