Sacking Lambert now would be great, potentially waiting for Palace to cough up the funds for FD to invest in a new manager? Cook for me

Sure, what would you like? Has to be plant based I'm afraid.

I'm getting somewhat intrigued as to why Downes is currently staying in a hotel. Does he not have a home in or around Ipswich? Seems a sign of transience to me.

I know it could have a perfectly rational explanation, such as being in the process of moving house, or having major renovation/decorating work done.

Just so long as it stays at House > Hotel, and doesn't escalate to House > Hotel > Palace.

Whether it is Phil or Stuart and Andy at the EADT, someone need's to because surely people within the club/players have seen what is being said.

It’s the hope that kills you, I’ve been waiting for Phil to expand on what he meant about sooner than expected with something like “he’ll be given until November” - but the silence is deafening.

Interesting that he felt the need to tell the players directly. That in itself suggests there may have been unrest within the squad that he was hoping to quell

He spoke to the players a few weeks back and not just the senior members of the squad, plenty of them. ME has been very hands-on in recent weeks looking to instil the principles he wants from the team, more so than you'd expect, I've heard very similar to Joe.

Any chance he really does get the boot today Phil?

That made me think maybe a meeting was scheduled between players and Evans. Which couldve lead to PL being sacked ...

Love this to be true but struggling to believe it off the back of a 5 yr deal and 3 signings..... feel unless something massive has happened Lambo will get time.

Hope I'm wrong

I did think the same when I first saw him. However, bit of a boring story - he has moved back in with his parents for lockdown in Brentwood and his missus is from Ipswich, so they’re just staying here rather than going back to Brentwood every day.

Racking up bills for 'miscellaneous services' as well, no doubt.

In fact, perhaps that explains the whole transfer saga. When his agent asked if he wanted to leave ITFC, instead of saying 'no', he said 'yes'. Very confusing.

He's claimed that his own source has been right on things previously, but there doesn't seem to be any evidence to back up that assertion.

The no more squad rotation thing is 100% true, he has told the players directly - not through Lambert - that if they play well they will stay in the team. PL obviously not happy with that happening.

I'm pretty confident on the other bits - especially re youngsters playing and the style from what I've heard

Certainly fits with how the season went. One minute it was Lambingo every week then all of a sudden it was sticking with the same players regardless of the result or how badly they played.

Also might explain the change in his demeanour if he felt the owner was undermining him. There was no sign of the animated PR Paul on the touchline for the second half of the season at all, almost like he had the hump and was waiting for his pay-off.

I don't have much sympathy for him as he's clearly doing a terrible job, but it doesn't seem like a great situation to have the owner telling the manager how to manage the team and talking directly to the players about matters of team selection. If you don't like the way the manager is managing the team then surely you need to sack him and get a manager who manages in the style you want, rather than undermining him?! Unless he was hoping to make him fed-up enough to walk?

So is the question how many games does Lambo get? 5? Do the 2 'cup' games count?
