Are we still on the look out for new signings 14:42 - Sep 8 with 6294 viewskizaitfc

or is it going to be another pretty boring transfer market for itfc?

Be spirited if we don't atleast try to get a couple of loans in to help the squad this season especially with our current injury list and chances of some players wanting out if bigger clubs come in last minute.

I imagine we'd need to shift a few before we looked at bringing anyone in.

Poll: We’ve got super KM, he knows exactly what we need. Woolfie at the back…

I really don't think we need them. Hand on heart I don't look at any area particularly and think it needs strengthening, if we're being realistic with regards to budget limitations.

What we need is to get / keep our current crop fit, and to hope the manager can get a tune out of them which I remain dubious about.

That is my main concern though, for whatever reason we never seem to keep our key player fit.

My main worry is if prem/top champ teams start upping their offers for Downes, Wolfenden and now Jackson these players will want to move on.

Having at least some players in on loan gives us extra depth and prevents the usual panic buy come the last day of the window

This is why this salary cap makes life so difficult for us !

We're not in a position to preemptively sign players in case we later sell. If we sell players we will decide if we need to replace them but as things stand our squad is massive for this level and we can't really justify bloating it further.

If we lose Woolfy then I think we certainly need a replacement, whether than be a loan or perm.

Downes, I'm less sure about. We would obviously be weaker for the sale, and I really want him to stay, but perhaps if he doesn't it's an opportunity for a Nolan or a Huws to get a run of games. It's an area we're well stocked in.

Jackson I think is the most disposable in this system. It's a shame as he's a weapon in our armoury and dangerously quick in a front 2, but I don't see him leading the line and in terms of wide attacking players we've got Lankester, Dobra, Sears, Edwards, Judge.

If we're talking 2 players for every position, it's really only centre back where we look a touch light, on the basis that Wilson feels miles off being appropriate for our way of playing, and Nsiala has it all to prove. Very light if the Woolf moves.

If we lose Jackson we don't have any pace up front and he won us a fair few penalties with that as well. I wouldn't object if we found another pacey striker who could perhaps play wide striker role as well if we did lose Jackson.

Quite. I’m not sure who people are expecting to score our goals this season, especially early on if Jackson goes. Norwood hasn’t played a competitive game since injury and though I l8ke the look of Drinan, he’s so far unproven. It’s not like we have a midfield that contributes heavily to the goal tally!

That is the problem we have, releasing players and recruiting better players.

A boring window would be the most exciting at this point. It would mean Downes, Jackson and Norwood stayed. I don't think we need anyone if we don't sell anyone.

Despite his recent involvement, I wouldn't have thought Drinan will play much football this season. I watched him closely against Rovers and he put a shift in, but I think he's still some way off being considered a starter at this level. I think Norwood will occupy that role when / if fit, with Hawkins as the alternative option. A combination of Sears, Jackson (unless sold), Judge, Edwards, Lankester, Dobra in those wide positions.

If there's the option to bring in a loanee it would be interesting to see, although Lambert's record with loan signings hasn't been great. We've tended to recruit players that have proven no better than what we already have - Quaner, Elder, Earl, etc. Give MM credit, he did tend to get very good addition ie. Lawrence, Fraser etc.

I think Downes and Jackson are going to go. We just have to hope we get some decent money and get in a few loans?

What is the situation re wages and loans. What if we paid a bigger loan fee but no "wages". Is that bending the rules?

We need to move a few on to bring one in..... I can see a loan but even then others may have to go out 1st.

You say 'another' boring. How was Last summer a boring window?

Judge
Holy
Garbutt
Keane
KVY
Norwood
Wilson

Last season's Window was really interesting and on paper was really good.

Judge was already here, mate. His deal in January was a permanent one. We gave him a better deal though.

No way we need the opposite to happen. Far too large a squad need to clear out some players to reduce numbers.
