There's not a lot of point in over-analysing anything any manager says but every time he speaks it feels like we're back in the last days of Mick when there was a real 'us v them' attitude where 'them' included the fans and media. |  |

For instance, if Dozzell and Downes had been called up would you still have wanted the game to go ahead (along with others of course)?
It would be folly to play given how instrumental Dozzell has been thus far.
So in this instance he can't really win.

....he has totally condemned the EFL Trophy, fair enough.
But then he went and played Woolfy against Arsenal when he had strained his groin in the match before and he hasn't played since.
He would clearly had called the Charlton match off if he'd been given the opportunity, just like last year. I expect he's delighted it was taken out of his hands.
He's shipping out all the youngsters, despite them playing a big part in pre season, when we have injuries in vital positions. Plus he's publicly saying they aren't up to it.
He's had an incredibly easy start to the season, continuing on Saturday. But it isn't going to continue, the back end of October will be the true test as to where we are.

Lambert has a lot to make up for this season, and the early signs look promising. However, I see similarities with McCarthy's last season in which a good start results-wise was undermined by horrendous injuries which torpedoed aspirations of the top 6 and allowed negativity to pour back in both on and off the pitch. |  | | |
