So, 4 goals, 4 errors.. 11:41 - Oct 21 with 3466 views | Swailsey | 1st: Wilson 2nd: Total fluke *multitude of errors* 3rd: Nsiala 4th: Holy I don't rate PL, but surely last night can just be a one-off. The above should keep their place and get another chance. If they mess up again, time to change. "Keep the shirt" shouldn't extend to players being afraid of making one mistake. So, 4 goals, 4 errors.. on 12:21 - Oct 21 by itfcjoe | Holy has got to get there, there is zero pace on the ball - those ones that flash in like that are really dangerous (Beckham in first home game back in the PL). He's got to do better |
Disagree with you there, that's come in from quite a distance and at around head height, our defence needs to deal better with that and get something on it. Holy is expecting one of our defenders to head the ball, soon as it misses everyone and taken that awkward bounce he's in trouble. The fact the defence has dropped so deep doesn't help Holy either. Perhaps you could argue that Holy should be pushing that defensive line towards the edge of our box? [Post edited 21 Oct 2020 16:12]

That is the worry isn't it. Let's see how they respond, as the season up to this point has been good and they've been playing with purpose and confidence (best I've seen us play for years). It's frightening how quickly confidence dropped last night. If he can pick them up and we respond well over the next 2-3 games, then fine. If now we fall to bits again, then yeah we should be looking for a better option.

Who do we get though? Obviously if we slump again we need to look at it, but no idea if a better manager is available right now? Not defending just don't know.

Paul Cook is the obvious one for now though think he’s been linked to Salford?

They mentioned him on the Quest EFL show at the weekend, saying they would be surprised if he took a job at that level, should be managing in the Championship or upper L1 at the very least. Of course that depends on what financial package (personally and team-wise) the very rich owners of Salford could offer him. I know it's daft thinking about a change of manager after just one defeat, but lose again on Saturday and I think most people will be convinced that Lambert hasn't learnt, can't improve the team, and it's time to get rid.

It's isn't just one defeat. It's 89 games played, 31% win record (most in the third tier). It's very Marcus Evans' Ipswich Town that he's still here.

So, 4 goals, 4 errors.. on 02:08 - Oct 22 with 606 views | istanblue | I think you're being a bit harsh on Wilson there, it was just as much Nsiala's mistake as it was his. In fact I wouldn't class the first goal as a 'mistake' - just naïve defending. Also second goal was most definitely Holy's error. Letting a floated deep cross go all the way in is just a dumb goal to concede regardless of how many players were in the box. What worried me more was the lack of real goalscoring opportunities we had. Apart from Huws and Sears having pretty tame shots straight at the keeper, did we actually create anything of note at all?

You obviously don't understand goalkeeping. Holy has to be where he is in case an attacker gets a head to it. No-one got the touch and it luckily nestled in the corner where Holy couldn't get to it. A pure fluke.

It wasn't really in the corner, and there was very little pace on the ball - sometimes those flash in and is understandable, but that just drifted in

I wouldn't expect the keeper to save that particularly, i would definitely expect the defenders to clear though

So, 4 goals, 4 errors.. on 12:09 - Oct 21 by Kropotkin123 | I remember seeing Coventry concede 4 in one game last season and wondered how they could possibly be top six, completely expecting them to fall away. Biggest weakness over the past few season is how we deal with set backs, both in game and long term. So it doesn't look promising however you cut it. But it definitely sets us up for a season defining moment. Can we put it behind us and take it out on Lincoln? Can we go on another winning run? Fingers crossed for the club, because another year in this division will be very damaging to us. |
Also, Hull lost 4-1 to Fleetwood not so long ago!! They bounced back and are now top. Lets hope we have the same comeback.....

I may be misremembering but I thought the ball entered the net right by the post and even went into the side netting. I don't think Holy could've got to it, and he obviously has to stay central in case an attacker gets a head on it. You could maybe argue he should've had someone guarding that post, but that's perhaps a bit of hindsight.
