I think it’s stupid too Paz. Albeit for almost definitely a different reason to you.
At universities, at least there’s stuff in place to prevent the spread (a lot of what I do until January is online for example. So I’m only actually on campus twice a week atm). But in schools, there’s surely an argument that the spread is occurring here. Surely if the rest of the country is to be locked down, schools ought to be as well.
The timing is strange too. Straight after half term. Would it not have made more sense to do it at the start of half term, allowing 10 days for everyone, including kids, to be on lockdown and limiting the spread. |
By your reasoning you shouldn't be going in two days a week either and university teaching should be moved entirely online.
Now perhaps that is right (I wouldn't object to schools being closed) but if they are then the same restrictions should be applied to universities as well.

I agree with that in the main, ie as far as the vast majority of posters go, but there have always been individuals who target other individuals (who aren't "loons") in an abusive manner on an ongoing basis, & that going under the radar because most people can't read everything, particularly during unsocial hours & obviously in PMs. [Post edited 1 Nov 2020 17:49]

I obviously don't know which posters you are referring to, but if people are sending unsolicited and abusive PMs on a regular basis then I'd like to think that would be reported to Phil as that's out of order.
In case you didn't realise (because I didn't until recently) if you have posters on ignore they can't PM you. That's saved me from a few unsolicited 'Plan-demic' and 'All Lives Matter' PMs from the more insane members of this parish I'm sure.

Would make my course effectively impossible but if we’re in a lockdown, the idea that students and school children should carry on as normal just makes no sense to me whatsoever. So I suppose a sacrifice must be made.
