Pointing out the first season was also poor.

Should really have been sacked then, but symptomatic of the inertia at this club.

To be fair, maybe next time dont get suckered in by free pints and 'Lambo gets it' nonsense, and pay attention when people point out all his obvious failings early on?

If we had (ok not me, wasn't at the games) demanded Lambert out from the stands at the end of our relegation season rather than celebrating it - I remember you and others talking about how better it was without Mick (it wasn't) it would have actually gave Evans something to think about.

We demanded Lambert Out from the stands from November to March last season, Evans evidently thought about that and then did nothing.

I never agreed that Lambert inherited a lost cause in 2019 and did well in his first season, but I don't blame people for trying to find a bit of hope and optimism.

I think he's saying that Evans would have felt inspired by the fans' engagement with Lambert which helped him go overboard with the daft contract offer.

That's not an altogether unfair observation.

If that’s what he meant then I apologise. But the fans in need of something ( anything) to hang into after the decline over the last 15 years bought into the feel good factor snd te joinging if Vlub with the fans that PL brought back knot the Club. We shouldn’t Knock Lambert for that supreme effort and fans that did buy into that perceived new hope should be classed as “ happy clappers”.

We ALL want our Club to recover . The infighting totally pees me off tbh. It achieves nothing.

While Mills is dry, with no sense of humor, we cant forget he was ITFC for many seasons. This guy bleeds Blue & White

The blue-and-whitest of all. From memory 747 appearances, unless I'm getting muddled up with aeroplanes.

I was one who thought Lambert being sacked at the end of his first season was harsh, purely as that utter wum from Scunthorpe borked us to oblivion. However, at the end last season I wasn't so supportive, and now he is beyond salvation.

Hindsight, of course, would change all of that and I can't be too critical of the "in the moment" decisions regarding his future... except one... the 5 year contract.

The contract made absolutely no sense at all, and now it just looks like Evans has only achieved putting the rope around his own wrists. Of course, it seems there may be many clauses on his contract to allow Marcus Evans to act, but knowing him it will probably be something like an end of season review every year.

Evans isn't known for being the best thinker in the world when it comes to football, but if Lambert ends the year here then it just makes Evans look like a fool. Really, Lambert should go this week if there is so much as a gnat's gonad of sense in Evans' dome.

I know.

It's frustrating from all angles isn't it.

More so when there is so little in the way of a solution in sight.

His team talks, you know, would be riveting.

Leave him as a playing icon of the club and now boring but astute commentator.

How would you know if it was better or not, or know about anyone's failings, if you weren't at the games?

This footballing soothsayer act is just nonsense. You just never liked Lambert from the off. And frankly, if you'd slated every manager we've had for the last 20 years you'd eventually have been 'proved' right.

He is so right. What has Lambert done for the club on the pitch in 2 years? Nothing at all.

He ran up and down it a few times and was sent from it equally as many. He walked on it and clapped a lot too.

Unnecessary, he's singing Mill's praises after all.

As for humour, he is in the US. It's not his fault personally that they routinely destroy our wonderful language.

Only in this case I was proven right within 6 months but it took the likes of you and others another 12 to 18 to catch up. That's fine, some people aren't great at analysing matches and take an emotional approach instead.

I was a big fan of MM because he was clearly a good manager. It was clear from the off Lambert wasn't.

The dynamics of a football club are often revealed some time after a manager has left said club. For example Simon Grayson knew it wasn't right at Sunderland as soon as he walked in the door! Given Sunderlands current plight who is to know if anything has changed? and why should we be any different?

Although Hurst ruined his own stay here I’m pretty sure he said the hole club needed an overhaul top to bottom. He managed the to ‘update’ the playing squad.

In between that, match reports on here plus the extended highlights. Although just a couple matches on ifollow was all that was really required if you must know.

No, because it's only fair you give someone a bit of time to either validate your view, or change it. Obviously, by the end of his first season he'd more than validated my opinion, even if some couldn't see it.

He said a year or so back he preferred to be an assistant rather than manager. This is because he doesn't have the ruthlessness you sometimes need as a manager.....or words to that effect.

The fact you find it so surprising that someone can analyse a couple of football matches, identify what a new manager is trying to do and draw conclusions from it, says alot. As did your continuous defending Lambert until recently. Probably best you don't label fraud or comedy creation at anyone Mr "Lambo just gets it"

I had a season ticket and thought it was arse too!

TBF, atmosphere was far better in the North Stand. It’d be spicy now too.

Even though the performances were still poor in his first season, the good things he was doing off the pitch, the passion he showed helped woo most of the North stand. Me being one of them. Then this momentum was carried into last season and we were off like the clappers. Points clear and games in hand. Then it all went wrong after the Rochdale game. The cancelling of games and constant switching players and tactics.
Then a terrible run in late November through December and our owner decided to reward him with a 4 year extension.
Ridiculous decision. Which is going to cost Evans a fortune.
Thats when he should of been sacked and Evans again showed why he shouldn't own a football club
