The banning of Phil from the pressers is easily the most un-Ipswich action the club has taken in my lifetime. Putting aside our recent dismal results, this fundamentally damages the values that we hold dear as Town fans.

Shouldn’t the likes of Stuart Watson and Brennan Woolley be doing more to stand up for the local press freedom by boycotting Lambert?

A stronger, more united approach is essential. Their silence is deafening.

Watson's mentioned it in pretty much every article he's written over the past week and has been clear in his disapproval.

Woolley and Watson are great. Some will disagree, but IMO we, and the club, are very lucky to have such fair-minded local journalists. For this reason, I would like to see them do more to fight for this vital aspect of our extended club.

Certainly don’t think either have been silent. Watson is normally very measured and considerate in his views about the club, but he’s been more damning recently in both his articles and his views on the KOA podcast. I can’t see banning PL helps their cause, in both cases they want to give him enough rope.

I do accept that they have been damning about the ban. I just think that, in light of ME’s outrageous comments, it is time they escalated their approach.

First they came for the Communists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Communist

Then they came for the Socialists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Socialist

Then they came for the trade unionists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a trade unionist

Then they came for the Jews
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Jew

Then they came for me
And there was no one left
To speak out for me

The difference is Phil is his own boss, they work for companies. They can't just decide to not do their job in solidarity with a freelancer. They'd be risking their own livelihood, during a pandemic.

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

Right - nobody’s happy with the club at the moment but comparing the Lambert regime to the Nazis is not the sign of a mildly stable person, never mind a very stable genius.

I’ve been impressed by their response to be honest. Phil is essentially their competition, so they’ve both gone up in my estimation - especially given that it would be within their interests to stay on the right side of Lambert.

From the moment this came to light I have been convinced that the purpose of Phil Ham's ban was to fire a shot across the bows of Brenner and Stuart Watson in particular. Otherwise, it didn't make sense because in the big scheme of things Phil has never been of great consequence to Paul Lambert.

So, the 'ban' was to say to the other guys 'This is what will happen to you if you step over the line'. It wasn't spontaneous, and it may have had internal approval. Lambert likes to think of himself as a street fighter, and to an extent he is, albeit a slightly crazy and not very successful streetfighter. From the mean streets of Glasgow rather than the mean streets of Rushmere St Andrew.

Brenner and Stuart Watson will continue to do what they have been doing: they will play the long game in the knowledge that Lambert will not be there forever.

I honestly think you’re giving Lambert too much credit. Phil’s ban just seems reactionary and paranoid to me rather than a well thought out strategy. It would almost be reassuring if you were right, but I think he’s just lost it.

In order to contextualise the banning, we need to know the immediate context of Lambert telling Phil to leave and not come back? Was it in cold blood, or was it in anger?

Yes, banned from all pressers. Currently post-match pressers are outside, hence I'm not permitted to join the 'socially distanced huddle'.

Have to say, I anticipated the week going very differently. I imagined the club would look at making some conciliatory steps in the early part of the week, whether that meant me returning or otherwise, but instead they opted to double down and make it a wider fight with the local media in general and fans at a time when they need everyone onside. From what I'm told I'm even further away from being readmitted due to the furore which erupted.

Not going to be long before they come up with a scheme for giving recompense to season ticket holders, presumably along the lines of vouchers, the money going towards 2021/22 season tickets etc and then new season ticket sales. Seems incredible to me that they would seek to stoke a row with supporters and the local media at such a time.

This is just disgusting.

So now you're being punished further because people sprung to your defence when they saw how unjust it was?!

They didn't think that a furore would erupt ? They really haven't got their fingers on the pulse.

Not on the scale that it did. And I still think they haven't wholly grasped the level of discontent, on the current situation in general rather than just me, despite the emails etc.

On which note, someone asked me earlier, has anybody had a reply from the club?

Initially was Lambert but I'm now told from the owner as well, presumably backing up the manager's position.
