The banning of Phil from the pressers is easily the most un-Ipswich action the club has taken in my lifetime. Putting aside our recent dismal results, this fundamentally damages the values that we hold dear as Town fans.

Shouldn’t the likes of Stuart Watson and Brennan Woolley be doing more to stand up for the local press freedom by boycotting Lambert?

A stronger, more united approach is essential. Their silence is deafening.

Not on the scale that it did. And I still think they haven't wholly grasped the level of discontent, on the current situation in general rather than just me, despite the emails etc.

On which note, someone asked me earlier, has anybody had a reply from the club?

Shocking to think they're doubling down on everything and still seem relatively blinkered to the feeling amongst majority of the fan base.

Not a sniff of a reply here, not even the standard template "Hi, Thanks for raising your concerns. They've been passed on." I was expecting to receive in response.

Out of all the worrying things coming out of the club at the moment, that’s the worst for me. That’s so petulant and counter-productive. Who is making these decisions?!

Indeed, I've spoken to ex-chief execs, former media staff, other journalists among others over recent days and none of them can understand the approach that's been taken.

The aim may be to impact upon me and perhaps some vocal fans they see as overly negative, but ultimately the club will be the loser.

Not seen people talking about Town in the way they have over the last few days, long-term season ticket holders, sponsors, people who spent much of their time talking about Town on here and on social media.

They say they have a special relationship with the forum which is complete balls. If they even scratched the surface they'd be able to see you moderate this place fairly, write supportive, non-divisive pieces and offer a great place for Town fans (and Ullaa) to chat about the club.

You're hardly some Che Guevara type.

Nothing here either. I think I'm going to print it off and post it as well. At least that way someone might at least skim-read it before chucking it in the bin.

Yes, banned from all pressers. Currently post-match pressers are outside, hence I'm not permitted to join the 'socially distanced huddle'.

Have to say, I anticipated the week going very differently. I imagined the club would look at making some conciliatory steps in the early part of the week, whether that meant me returning or otherwise, but instead they opted to double down and make it a wider fight with the local media in general and fans at a time when they need everyone onside. From what I'm told I'm even further away from being readmitted due to the furore which erupted.

Not going to be long before they come up with a scheme for giving recompense to season ticket holders, presumably along the lines of vouchers, the money going towards 2021/22 season tickets etc and then new season ticket sales. Seems incredible to me that they would seek to stoke a row with supporters and the local media at such a time.

As I said the other day, I think they believe we're some sort of fringe hoolie-lite crew that they can ignore and mistreat if the majority of passive fans don't care and keep paying no matter what. Until they learn that punishing you for their own mistakes isn't on, they ain't getting a sausage out of me.

Stopping access for an independent journalist during such testing times for the club and country is really stepping over a line.

I think you may be right. Clearly the way the forum is talked about by some at the club is wholly inaccurate. Someone suggested the other day it was at the centre of the anti-Jim protests, which couldn't have been further from the truth. The protesters and their supporters in the local media were castigated on here.

Is that an advance peak at a new set of questions on the end of season questionnaire?

"How long did they take to answer?"
"Did they actually answer the question?"
Etc.

And it is true - they clearly have no idea about Phil's track record. For years he has travelled up and down the country following the team, providing accurate and largely unbiased match reports, as well as reporting on club news. None of this is ever controversial or opinionated. Phil steers clear of taking sides, allowing others to form their own opinions. He is the epitome of discretion.
And yet they seem to be treating him as some sort of rabble-rousing lunatic intent on destabilising the Club and it's management. That couldn't be any further from the truth - and quite frankly I am appalled at the actions they have taken.

Right - nobody’s happy with the club at the moment but comparing the Lambert regime to the Nazis is not the sign of a mildly stable person, never mind a very stable genius.

I am saddened that you have completely misrepresented my post and attempted to personalise it. Frankly, it was very clear that I wasn’t drawing the moral equivalence you suggest. Based on my original thread about the nature of Phil’s banning, and the subsequent posts, there is are clearly something very unjust going on.

I do accept that they have been damning about the ban. I just think that, in light of ME’s outrageous comments, it is time they escalated their approach.

First they came for the Communists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Communist

Then they came for the Socialists

Then they came for the trade unionists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a trade unionist

Then they came for the Jews
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Jew

Then they came for me
And there was no one left
To speak out for me

The club, or some within it, are badly misreading so many things at the moment.

The situation with you has gone beyond ridiculous and unnecessary and now seems to be vindictive.

They seem to be hugely underestimating the anti Paul Lambert feeling and the recent utterings from the club have probably strengthened those feelings.

At some point soon it should dawn on somebody there just what a mess they are making of public relations at the moment.

I think that we have now gone more than full circle since the arrival of PL and the apathy that he said existed (he was right) because now it is not apathy it is getting more and more anti ITFC.

PL did work off field wonders I think in getting the bulk of the fans solidly behind him but I think that now he has lost all but a handful of those gains.

You say some at the club. Others other than PL? That’s surprising. In the recent statements weren’t several bones of contention mentioned. Do you think the Poll is one of them? I imagine that ME has been told you just run a fanzine and nothing about the history of TWTD and it’s long and balanced relationship with the club and he’s backing his manager without bothering to probe further. Given PL’s recent attitude that in itself is shocking as is most of Evans’s even more patronising than usual statement the other day.

I doubt they realise how popular the site is. We had 174k users logged into the site last month. 3.3m pages viewed. November was a poor month, partly due to the internationals. Page impressions and interest in the site is lower to us being in League One. When you're in a higher league you get a lot more interest from the wider public. The pandemic isn't helping much either.
