One of the schools I work at in North Essex closed for Christmas last Monday due to a big outbreak. The other four schools I've been working at (also North Essex) have all had cases and year groups isolating. Yet I see people I know posting pictures of themselves in bars/restaurants pissed up flouting social distancing |  | | |

Really? Their circuit breaker seemed to be an exercise of pissing in the wind. Since their circuit break, COVID has got out of control in Wales.

A few of my friend's children attend that school and the number of cases is frightening and it appears a lot of those kids have then passed it onto the rest of their family.
They're be so many around who don't know they've got it flouting social distancing and of course next week they'll be allowed to visit and stay with their families for xmas it truly is a massive wave in the making. | |

Circuit breakers have failed. Regional lockdowns just push the virus elsewhere. The only thing that does work is a full lengthy lockdown across the nation. And the economy cannot handle that again. Nor can the mental health and education of the nation.
So what’s the solution? We are ducked wither way until the vaccine kicks in. | |

It would make sense to start the Christmas school holidays now and make the summer holidays shorter. | |

It depends on the level of compliance, if people were 100% compliant then they would work as C19 obviously can't spread if there are no vectors.
Of course 100% compliance is unrealistic short of draconian measures like Australia and our government hasn't been willing to take things that far.
Not having lockdowns seems not to work either - Sweden seems to be in all kinds of a mess now after being held-up as the poster-child for those not wanting any restrictions.
