I posted in a thread yesterday regarding this (I can dig it up later).
They weren't designed to stop people getting C19, that has been clear from the very start. However it was always hoped that they would stop transmission and the data which has been analysed thus far is looking promising in that regard.
If the body can fight off C19 then there is less chance of it being able to create enough viral load to become easily transmissible. That is looking like the case from the data but longer term datasets will be required. People are likely to be required to wear masks even after vaccination until the analysis is done.

To those who do not fully understand, surely the message that the vaccine will help to control the virus and reduce the risk of it should suffice?
Of course, there is no message that would convince those who are anti-vaccers and conspiracy theorists but that is their choice. | |

It's been explained since the start. It was one of the counter arguements when some airlines said they wouldn't let people fly unless they had been vaccinated, ie the counter arguement was what difference will that make as you can still catch and spread the virus even if vaccinated.
However, what they have always said is until we vaccinate a huge percentage of the population we won't know if it can prevent the spread. |  | | |

That's one way of looking at it.
The other way of looking at it is that not a single person out of the thousands that had the vaccine in trials needed hospital treatment for covid, and there is no other way out of the pandemic. |  |

There’s a lot of negativity on here which is understandable in a pandemic but when even the positive rays of light are being shut down, it’s tough to stay on the site. I for one have made a conscious effort to stay off TWTD in the main the last couple of months. The onslaught of negativity is not good for ones health. This is not a dig at Homer as I’m sure it isn’t deliberate. Elder Grizzly is the same. There’s a lot of negativity which is not needed but I’m sure it’s not deliberate. |  |

Flu vaccines can be anywhere from 30% to 70% effective.
