He's a big Leeds fan so more likely that to be fair
A while ago I joined a Leeds fans forum, initially to post about Norman Hunter (RIP) but I have posted things on there ITFC related and the view on that forum was that they would have happily had MM there ahead of a whole host of managers that they did have.
That could have been a marriage made in heaven a couple of years or so ago. Hopefully it would have worked well for both MM and LUFC.
He's from Barnsley, and came through there, but a Leeds fan - sure most of their fans would take him currently with the mess they are in.
I felt, without, of course, inside knowledge of his parents' allegiance etc that the fact that he was from an intense little football town like Barnsley (not unlike here) yet supported Leeds was perhaps reflected here in the fact that he supported the team to the hilt, but didn't seem too bothered about the wider club (tents - and all that).
I had heard there was a Championship club which was potentially lining him up in the summer but I got the impression he took the job because not much else had been offered to him.
Didn’t he turn the Barnsley job down because they were (at the time) in L1? Seemed a strange decision as they just had new investors appointed.
Would have been an odd move, what with him managing in Cyprus.
"APOEL FC (Greek: ΑΠΟΕΛ; short for Αθλητικός ΠοδοσφαιÏικός Όμιλος Ελλήνων Λευκωσίας, Athletikos Podosferikos Omilos Ellinon Lefkosias, literally "Athletic Football Club of Greeks of Nicosia") "

Hate to go all pedant on you Herbivore, but Cyprus is effectively split into Greek Cyprus and Turkish Cyprus. Apoel are in the Greek area of Nicosia - and are quite staunchly ‘Greek’ in their alignment.
The majority of Cypriots define themselves as ‘Greek Cypriots’.
Also - “The club's formation came about when a group of forty people, with a common vision, met and set the foundations for creating a football club that would represent the Greek residents of the capital and express their deep desire for Cyprus' incorporation (enosis) into Greece.”
Just saying.
I’ve worked there on a few projects. Nice place in parts.

Of interest it’s quite influenced by Russia mafia, and offshore Russian banking.

So calling them Greek Cypriot numbskulls would probably be more accurate then.

The underbelly of Cyprus.
Easy way to buy an EU passport for rich Russians. As a regular visitor over the years and family from there, it's amazing how quickly and extensively the Russians have moved in - 10 years ago you would never have seen or heard froma Russian, now most places offer menus in Greek, English and Russian
Mick can still do a job in the championship. He still has credit in the bank. Most clubs in this country wouldn't take much notice of these foreign clubs that just hire and fire. They would know Mick can do a job given time. We could do with his type now. Shame that boat has sailed. The numb skulls know who they are.

Though in regard to the footballing credentials of this place in the sun, where Mick discovered the instant price of failure, I point out that the average attendance last season was 4800 - sunshine apart, not a great uptick on a C.V. which contains success that is of fading memory.
