We've recruited in this window like.... 08:32 - Feb 2 with 6038 viewsitfcjoe

....we've appointed a new manager at the start of the month and trying to reshape the squad to get a couple of his players in.

But it's not, it's this managers 5th transfer window since being appointed.

More good money thrown after bad.

The squad is ridiculously bloated, our youngsters just pushed further and further down the pecking order and into the U23s of a League 1 side.

I was never one that said relegation would be a good thing, but I think most accepted that going down would allow us to have a bit of a reset, try and bring through some youngsters, utilise the academy and build something from the bottom up.

The salary cap has changed things somewhat, but the state of the squad when this manager has been in place over 2 years is a disgrace really - when you look at how streamlined a squad Mick was running by the end of his tenure in the championship, to have this many in L1 is mental.

GK: Holy, Cornell
RB: Matheson, KVY
CB: Chambers, Woolf, McG'ness, Wilson, Nsiala
LB: Ward, Kenlock
CM: Dozzell, Downes, Bishop, Harrop, Nolan, Huws, Skuse
RW: Thomas, Judge, Lankester, Dobra
LW: Edwards, Bennetts, Sears
ST: Norwood, Parrott, Jackson, Drinan, Hawkins

The players are there, but the manager isn't - will he be able to use this lot to limp to 4 points every 3 games and get us nowhere? Probably.

Kieron and Terry. I think they could unify things in a manner no one else could, Kieron has good ideas, great contacts and the young players have grown up with him coaching them throught the age groups in the academy. Terry would be an excellent more experienced wise head alongside him.

Agreed, would love them, fans would be onside straight away and would give such a lift to the whole club, but unfortunately we would look for a quick fix someone like Pearson more loans same old

There’s far too much logic and thought in this plan...definitely won’t happen.

Yes. As I've said, I don't think a change is too far off unless there's a turnaround.

Hopefully before the weekend.

Unfortunately he will be here few more weeks yet, if results don't improve he will go if they improve he will stay maybe to end of season.

Watching these transfers come in, I had the same thought, these don’t feel like Lambert signings especially as some are direct competition for players he’s signed or season long tactical decisions he’s made.

I’m hoping and praying these are another managers signings who is imminently awaiting the reins while Lambert digs his heels in over his severance package.

Not going to lie, I get a bit emotional just picturing that.

Then I remember who we have in charge, and the type of club we've become, and that heavy feeling in my chest rushes straight back in.

Interesting, cheers. Well that puts me in a dilemma for the next few matches. Short term pain for long term gain? Hmm.

It’s vaguely interesting that Lamberk hasn’t done any press about them yet but I don’t agree, Evans has always backed his manager as much as possible.

In the spirit of reconciliation and happiness at the end of the Banter Era (RIP) and as a result of promotion I have cleared out my ignore list. Look forwards to reading your posts!

I made the point about the radio silence from Lambert yesterday - it is a bit odd, though I'm under no illusion that it is just wishful thinking on my part.

Just written almost exactly the same for my Gazette column. Need a manager to develop things over a number of years as George Burley did in the late 1990s, which in essence is what the Five-Year Plan was about. Too much short-termism and kneejerk-ism over the years rather than, to use their words, "sustainable and consistent strategy".

Not sure a manager who has been out of the game for a decade and who turns 65 in a few months would be a very forward thinking appointment. And I say that as someone who loves Burley. I'm not against him having some role for a few years or so to support putting in place a more progressive structure, but I don't think him being manager would be a good move.

I don't think he will appoint them. Doesn't seem to like people who have associations with the club. I think Lambert is here until the end of the season at the very least. Evans is digging his heels in. He simply doesn't seem to want to be told. Regardless of ticket sales etc. He seems to be making the point that he isn't listening to the fans anymore after the MM debacle.

Problem - dismal management and coaching
Solution - change the players
Surely Evans can see how ridiculous this all is?

The fans didn't tell him to give Lambert a five year contract. None of us could believe it.
