I agree. Like I said, if you are going to ask people to make hard sacrifices then be honest about what you're asking and the people doing the asking need to also embody those sacrifices themselves. We're all in this together quickly turns to absolute guff when those in power act as if they are exempt from reality.

I don't think there's that much credit to be taken. I strongly suspect that if they could have found a way for their mates in the Efficient Private Sector to roll out vaccines, they would have.
And are probably still wondering how they can.

It's quite enlightening how many people lappd up the government's line at the time that they were following the science. When there are large numbers of scientists saying something different, it's not going to be as simple as that. It's incorrect to say that people haven't given them credit for the vaccine rollout. There have been quite a few posts on here over the last week or so and they've pretty much all been complimentary about that specific element. It's quite possible to criticise most of their covid response but praise them for the vaccine rollout. It's looking like a national success story after all. | |

The experts all predicted massive rises in infections if we just willy-nilly repopened school and universities. They ignored it.
If 'nobody' knew what was coming, how have w still fared worse than nearly ever other nation on Earth.

The early figures were estimates, when we knew very little about the virus. There was only the sketchiest idea of even the symptoms at that stage, let alone how to treat it, how easily it could be passed on, whether it would come in waves, etc. A lot has changed in ten months. |  |
