For me the issue is 2 fold, 1) we're governed by inept fools that haven't done a good enough job at managing this situations, but 2) why on earth they ever stood up in March, with so much uncertainty and attempted to put numbers on this thing I'll never know.

I thought there was a scientist in April 2020 who said that deaths from covid could be expected to reach 500,000 in a population similar to ours with a high density. He was accused of scaremongering I think because it was based on doing nothing to minimise the spread. Could be wrong but I am sure that has stuck in my memory bank. |

Whilst I think this Government have not handled it well by the same token, they have had to make difficult decisions that I, for one, would not like to have to make.
At the risk of being negative, what if Covid mutates again and the current vaccines become ineffective and we find ourselves back at square one? Yes, the Gov had said they would like to be back to normal by X but given the nature of this pandemic and their decision making, it's not possible, always.

If they had told you 107,000 would have died even with restrictions would it have made and difference? Surely you would have still obeyed the restrictions and "gone to bed on time"?
If they said that you might not be able to go on holiday in summer 2021 would you have acted differently?
The posts just seem like a strop because things aren't back to normal and you can't go on holiday. You're not alone, nobody else can go on holiday and many had to cancel trips which were important.
