I would be happy for Boris Johnson to ridicule himself as a typical privileged white male from Eton, that is only good at classics, likes to think of himself as a poundland Churchill, a Tim Nice-But-Dim type that always seems to muddle through, and things like destroying restaurants and attempting to get journalists beaten up is just typical high Jinx.
In the examples, he could have commented on Tony Blair, Peter Mandelson, Muslim women and a fictional banker without using any derogatory terms.
Also, I have mentioned this before, I used a word to describe British people that someone took offense to.

Interesting that so many seem to think it'll be a roaring success. I'm not so sure that it will in the long run. Maybe it'll attract a few of the usual sort but at some point they're going to come under pressure from advertisers/IPSO and so on if many of their presenters are anything to go by.

I share your concern over the channel, but 90% (at least) of the mentions I've seen of it are from people against it. You're doing a bang up job of giving them free promotion, and the sort of people it appeals to won't be remotely deterred by you or I saying it is going to be a bad thing. | |

absolutely i was political about corbyn - he brought about another 5 years of tory government exactly as i said he would. under his leadership the party was found to have failed to deal with institutional anti-semitism - again, i agree, i did point that out even before the ehrc findings.
but being political doesn't mean you have to stop thinking or abandon basic critical reasoning and comprehension skills. having read it i don't see the 2002 article as racist and don't feel any need to pretend that i do.
