Cricket: India 115/5 on 12:41 - Feb 25 by Steve_M | 14 wickets and 114 runs so far today. It's quite fun - and still better than the heavy defeat that looked likely this time yesterday - but it's not Test cricket. |
What is the lowest scoring test in history? And what did Australia bowl India out for recently? Is there any chance we can put some pressure on them? I guess that the lack of pressure of a very low total to chase makes it unlikely.

On the second question, 36 chasing 90: https://www.espncricinfo.com/series/india-in-australia-2020-21-1223867/australia If they needed 80-odd it might be interesting but a target of around 50 isn't going to be enough. Need a rapid 35 from Broad.

That may well be a TMS conversation at some point. I do recall England being bowled out for 82 and 93 in a test match in New Zealand circa 1983, so at least we've passed our worst aggregate. Foakes lbw as I type.

This looks almost identical to the one Root got away with. Not quite close enough. Over to you Stuart.

Agree it looked very like Root's/ However, I thought the edge was marginally before the impact with the pad. Looked less out than Root's. Snicko seems to show the sharp edge before the dull impact with the pad.

Surely there was an edge before it hit the pad there?

Looks like he felt he didn't hit it. However, he would have been out the ball before had Kohli reviewed! I don't know why Broad wasn't just stepping down the wicket and smashing everything.

It's almost pointless. It's not cricket, it's just like a stand at a funfair where someone tries to knock over a batsman to win a stuffed panda bear. SB

Is that *mainly* down to the pitch? (say 65%+ so).

That's a poor showing from England. Scuttled out for next to nothing and then India rack up 49-0 to win. SB

For me it was no different from the 2nd test. Yeah, the pitch was clearly prepared for spinners, but that was no different from how we prepare pitches for swing/seam bowlers. And the Indians showed that if you can play against spin, you can make a few (not many) runs. Those looking to lay the defeat at the pitch are some way off the mark imho. India bowled better and batted better on a pitch that was spin friendly. That usually wins tests and did so again here.

the pitch for the 2nd test I felt was playable on, if you applied yourself which the Indian team did, you could score runs and stay in, it wasnt easy but test cricket isnt meant to be easy, it wasnt this bamboozling pitch of spin friendly ball turning at 90 degrees that the England team seemed to get into their heads it was. this pitch well Ive not seen a pitch with footholes develop after 10 overs on day 1, and by the evening session of the 1st day, having to use a tamper to try and compact the craters that had developed so you could actually bowl and not risk breaking an ankle in one. it did seem to deterioate quite quickly. that said certainly 1st innings alot of the dismissals were playing for spin and missing the ball kept going straight on. have to see how the next test here goes
