Ashton... 10:13 - Feb 27 with 2608 views | parkinshair | Speaking to a Bristol City supporting friend on Facebook last night who’s local paper are running the story. They really don’t like Ashton. Main complaint seems to be he’s a “Yes” man.

What it means is this....they have invested fairly heavily, have failed to get promoted, and want/need a scapegoat. Hardly unique - see the pelters Clegg/Milne/O'Neill got - with varying degrees of justification.

I imagine it means they have the same opinion of him that many of our supporters seem to have of Lee O’Neill. Edit: I see BryanPlug has proved my point already! [Post edited 27 Feb 2021 10:20]

I’m only reporting on what’s been said. Their supporters know as much as us about their club. Right or wrong that’s their opinion.

You mean it is not just ITFC that have ITK people? We can't have anything for ourselves anymore.

No ITK info here. It’s the general opinion of the fan base. Like me telling them Lambert isn’t popular.

Ashton... on 10:30 - Feb 27 with 1973 views | Bobbychase | As a long-time Bristol resident who lives in the heart of City territory, I take their complaints with a pinch of salt. In my time here they've gone from a struggling L1 side with a ramshackle old stadium to promotion challengers in a superb new ground. I wonder sometimes if half their gripes come from the fact that Bristol Sport, the umbrella organisation they are a part of, seems to invest more in Bristol Rugby - who are flying this season. But given what has happened to the likes of Bolton, Bury, even Sheffield Wednesday and Derby, Bristol City are sitting pretty with a billionaire who is happy to spend money. Not so long ago they bid £9m for Andre Grey when he was at Brentford. We can only dream of investment like that.

Hasn't Ashton only been there since 2016, though, so not really responsible for much of their recovery? (not disputing the wider point, don't know much about Bristol City)

Yeah he's not been there that long, it's just their overall complaining which usually makes me roll their eyes, so when I see they "hate" Mark Ashton I also remember they "hated" Lee Johnson before he was made manager, some of them "hate" being part of a big sports franchise even though it means they are well backed financially and some of them even "hate" having to share their stadium with a rugby team even though it means loads gets spent on their pitch. They hate a lot of things, that's my gripe. And why I'd rather go and watch Rovers any day.

Take a look at the comments on Bristol City Live on Facebook. As I said, I’m only reporting on what I’ve been told and the general mood amongst their fans. Maybe you should ask them.

He can't be that bad. They named the stadium after him!

I get it that it's what they said, but my point is calling someone a 'yes man' means nothing. It's a real throw away comment.
