What do teenagers do around Ipswich these days? 20:20 - Mar 23 with 3859 views | monytowbray | Or well at least when COVID's passed? My daughter has been stuck indoors with me and my partner since she moved here in December, and although we're an UTTER JOY to be around I think it's healthy for her to have a social life beyond us when we're allowed to. Also doesn't help she's learned from a young age a general dislike and distrust in people and doesn't like socialising, alas that's a blessing and a curse I can say from personal experience. It's a battle as my fatherly responsibility swings between totally relating to the mental health aspect but also being fully aware of how the real world works. Not a plea of SOMEONE PLEASE BEFRIEND MY DAUGHTER because she'd kill me hahaha. But I know outside of the DIRTY GRUNGER scene all sorts of music and social things go on I'm too old and out-of-touch to attend, it would be nice to encourage her to go off and build her own life here. Wondering if there are any directions I can push her for things she might like to check out. [Post edited 23 Mar 2021 20:21]

What do teenagers do around Ipswich these days? on 03:48 - Mar 24 by SpruceMoose | Why walk when you can stumble?! Thinking of drunkenly stumbling out of places... I had a fair few decent evenings at the Caribbean Club during that period too. What was the other night that was going on around that period? Sometimes at the Corn Exchange. I want to say 'Furry'? Yep — Furry. Guy who ran it (Ed) was an absolute legend. Loved those times.

It was Furry - good chance that back in the day we would have recognised each other from places like that. As well as the Caribbean Club think it was also held at somewhere called ‘The avenue’ but for the life of me I can’t remember exactly where that was.

What do teenagers do around Ipswich these days? on 06:37 - Mar 24 by hype313 | Yeah I remember something like that, talking of stumbling downstairs, Pams House at the Attic in the early days was frought with danger when leaving and the amount of people falling down Liberty's stairs was collosal, girls having had 14 bacardi breezers trying to navigate those stairs with high heels was hilarious. |
The attic is one of a selection of clubs I've been to where I felt unsafe because the building prob ought to have condemned a fair few years earlier. The whole building wobbling when a night went off was both exciting and terrifying... [Post edited 24 Mar 2021 8:22]

Yep it it was these days it would be condemned, as you say it was part of the magic that at any point the whole thing could crumble, but after a skinfull inhibitions took over. Could have sworn I saw Fabio and Grooverider in there one night.

I think that 13 - 18 age are so hard hit. Not to mention having to live with you of course :-P Work / college is always a decent way to meet people, if she can get into a good environment. Not sure of her age or intentions moving forward but college especially pretty much forces people to make friends. I was lucky enough to have a good group of school friends as a kid, but I also got a part time job at a bowling alley when I was 16 which was a good way to meet people. We often kicked about after work etc and met up outside of work in town etc with their friends or mine. Drinking pints and smoking fags at the Golden Lion, Arboretum or other haunts around town that weren't hot on ID.

Can’t wait for the gigs to start again. |
Well aware of the SH, been to many a gig there. Think she's more keen to study at college/uni here and not in the entertainment world. She wants to be a lawyer, handy when Tesco/Abelio's secret police knock down my door in a few years.

If she has kids I'm throwing them all in a river, her included. I call it post-birth abortion, and it's entirely made up but I enjoy annoying her evangelical Trumper family members.
