Drogba talk, very exciting times ahead 10:24 - Apr 28 with 2060 viewskizaitfc

Whilst I do not think Drogba will happen nor do I think at 43 he will be anywhere near the player he was.

However, it's exciting to think if these owners were able to lure a player like him to Phoenix, who might they try to get here. They are clearly heavily motivated and passionate about obtaining success and will use all contacts they have to do so.

Could be a very exciting few years ahead!

Poll: Mick in or out? (not a dig at Mick just want to see the overall opinion on here)

It was discussed in jest, they weren't serious about the suggestion. The bloke retired 3 years ago.

Agree that these guys seem ambitious, I've heard whispers that Cook will be very well backed this summer. Lets hope we can allocate the resources to the right players.

Whispers? They've shouted it from the rooftops!

I just go with the Galatasaray connection and think of a marquee signing like Ryan Babel, that seems believable. Or just go fully ridiculous and suggest Radamel Falcao.

Poll: An interesting day for our politicians, but which one is worse?

I think I was a little sceptical, but I'm told there's 1 or 2 players we're sniffing around that surprised me. Not household hollywood names like Babel, but players that I would've expected to be in the Championship next season.

Of course it all remains to be seen whether we actually bring them in.

Or that they want to come here seeing as we’ve been a disaster of a club for so long and not really furthered many players careers since Mick was here. I get that wages is the biggest tempter but in terms of the type of ambitious and personality of player not just playing for money we can’t be the most attractive proposition. We are still a risk and players may be tentative until they know as a club we are on an upward curve. That is the challenge.

This will be the issue. How much can we convince them of the project?

It can certainly be done though. If you look at Wolves a few years ago pulling in the likes of Ruben Neves whilst in the Championship. No reason why we couldn't do the league one equivalent.

Be nice for us to be in a position to finally sign some quality players.

I think the Drogba connection was a very specific one between Bakay and Galatasaray, so let's not get too excited about more of the same. They definitely mean business though.

I think if you were on a Zoom call with Johnson/Bakay you'd leave it feeling pretty excited and convinced about the direction we are looking to go in.

I think there will be a 'big' (a real coup for L1) marquee signing to set the tone and send a message that we mean business. 'If it's good enough for x, it's good enough for me' type thing.

I can see a big striker coming in. Along the lines of Waghorn, Rhoads etc.

People automatically say they're wages are too big, but would it be too much under this new ownership?

First few signings will tell us a lot.

I think we will get a couple of good quality Championship players. What might happen is that we sign a couple of foreign players we haven't even heard of but have real talent. The other possibility might be players from the MSL.

I think Phil mentioned something similar a few weeks back. We will be recruiting as if we're a championship club.

Interesting summer ahead.

Isn't there some rule about how much you can spend Vs your turnover in L1 though? Unless it got suspended because of Covid.

I sincerely hope we embark on a programme of considered recruitment, rather than relying on 'big name' gimmicks.

Only 43? If we're believing links to Galatasary, what about Hakan Sukur? He could do a job at 49. Maybe replace Holy with Taffarel? At only 54 i still fancy him to command his box well. Sas on the right wing, Turan on the left?

Wait, Hagi for Bishop.

Buffon is second string at Juve, not planning to retire until at least 2023.

Just saying.

New owner, new direction, new ambition, new funds.......sounding very similar to 13 years ago. This time we need to learn to walk again before we try to start running. Lessons have been learnt, hopefully.
