With a number of other Tory MPs coming out to call for the ending of taking the knee and tacitly condoning those who boo support for anti-racism, you rather have to question the value base of our government and those who support them.

Never hear from him anymore! Now he's been given the boot from social media you actually have to make an effort to find out what he's been saying or doing - which obviously I don't do!
Reinstate himself as President?! He can't even get himself reinstated to Pinterest.

Just saw him at the GOP convention yesterday trying to make a comeback. America can't be that stupid... right?

Half of America is exactly that stupid. But judging by the state of him he will be lucky to still be around in four years anyway.
Pronouns: He/Him/His.

Surely the stuff that Biden is doing is going to resonate with enough of the population to make it almost entirely irrelevant what Trump and the GOP do given they can never go down this route for ideological reasons.

I'm sure the more conservative Democrats, or the more moderate Republicans are fine with what Biden is doing, but the GOP are going to be in trouble when they have to realise that they haven't remotely moved right enough yet to appease a large section of their base. They need those votes, because anyone sane and moderate won't touch them with a barge poll.
A core of their vote have abandoned democracy, they want people they don't like punished, they've abandoned reason, they just want their emperor, they don't want Rick Santorum or Ted Cruz, and if they don't want hateful clowns like that, they'll never want a Democrat again. Without Trump on the ticket, they may not even vote for a Republican (unless it's one fully endorsed and propped up by Trump).
The GOP knows the only way they will beat Democrats is by suppressing their voters, hence all the restrictive voter and voting laws being pushed through. I don't see a way forward for the GOP that doesn't involve them doubling down on the insanity. There aren't votes in it for them if they want to act sensibly. If you want a moderate, you already have one in the White House. If you want a QAnon lunatic, the GOP are your guys.

Exactly, although you've put it much better than me.
It's hard to see where the GOP votes come from given the way Biden is proceeding unless they go for the extremes. If they don't go for the extremes there must be a possibility that a Trumpian 3rd party emerges which will dilute the GOP vote even further.
The Democrats would seem to be in an excellent position at the moment which can only be a good thing given the GOP have lost their heads.

Pretty staggering that the PM has waded in to also agree that a suspension is too harsh a punishment for vile racist and sexist views: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/57383097
I can't think why he wouldn't want people to have to be accountable for committing such unpleasant views to print.....
Also pretty telling that he can't manage to put out a brief statement without it being inaccurate (wilfully or otherwise); the posts were made in 2012 and 2013, which is not by any measure "more than a decade ago".

Anything to keep stoking the culture war I guess.
Didn't realise he'd said this either:
"The Prime Minister's spokesperson added he "respects people's right" to take the knee, after the England football team were booed for the gesture during their recent friendly matches against Austria and Romania."
So, once again, like he did when he was sorry for people taking offence rather than him causing it, he shows he has no moral compass, no backbone and is happy to dog whistle. What a lovely bloke.

Not seen the full tweets but read that he used the N word. As far as I'm aware that wasn't acceptable in 2012/13 but it's so long ago how can any of us really be sure what was okay back then?
Edit - have managed to find some of the tweets and can't see use of the N word so the not sure if that was reported incorrectly. The tweets are pretty unpleasant though, seems like a full blown cock end.

Don't think anyone is seriously suggesting using the N word was acceptable back then are they? (assuming it was used in a derogatory manner)
Hey you should go into politics (of course you might be for all I know!). Looking through past postings and picking out those that suit your argument is fine and to be honest, it goes over my head. I am just aware that TWTD's forum numbers would be boosted considerably if more folk felt comfortable about being here, that's all. I respect you people for the amount of time you spend on here, but surely there is room for us casual visitors as well to pop in and out and question something we find tedious.
Hope the weather is as good where you are as it is here.
Why should we want racists to feel comfortable being here?
Have you ever considered that there may be people who feel uncomfortable being here when they see posters support racist/sexist/homophobic behaviour, or outright exhibit that behaviour themselves? I’m sure even seeing that behaviour go unchallenged would be enough to make people second guess about posting on here, so no, I don’t think we should just ignore it.

Dowden said "Ollie Robinson’s tweets were offensive and wrong. They are also a decade old and written by a teenager."
So no, he's not saying it was acceptable back then, but what he is saying is that because it happened back then it is acceptable to be swept under the carpet now.
Again, the tweets are not "a decade old" and last time I checked 18/19 years of age was an adult.
I don't know but to me it is pretty straightforward - he makes his apologies, he gets suspended, he educates himself, he comes back a better man.
"Never argue with an idiot. They will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience."

I am sticking to football for a couple of weeks so as not to inflame the currently combustible situation. Comments like this are quite the opposite of the approach I am adopting.
You brain fart utter tripe, the decent adults royally mock you for it. It’s a simple course of events that will continue until you either grow up or lose your typing finger. Hardly combustible though. Get over yourself, boy.

I see Boris has had his 'there were a lot of good people on both sides' moment. Imagine living in a country where you can be sure your leaders despise you because of the colour of your skin.

JDB, sorry it has taken so long to answer your post;
I have read what you posted carefully and agree with everything you have written, literally. I am not sure why you think I would accept posters who support racist/sexist/homophobic behaviour. I would be the first in the queue to condemn it and in my everyday life, I practice what I preach. Please show me where I have given that opinion.
