If Croatia and Scotland draw they will both go out. Third place not guaranteed to qualify unless there is a winning team at Hampden.

If it is level after 85 minutes it should be magnificent all out attack. A similar scenario happened at the 2010 World Cup when USA played Algeria. USA scored in the final minute.

I'll be seen to be supporting them for two reasons,

1. The other half is a Scot, so might be painful not to be

2. It will really p1ss them off if we're all willing them on and they lose, a bit like the Col Who thing, treat them with affection not disdain, it'll hurt far more.

Remember that game well, I was in the pub watching among others with a yank. England we're on the main screen and he was watching on a small TV helpfully set up by the landlord.

Half way through and he get's very agitated as the ref had made some poor decision against the UofSA.

In as pompus a manner as I could muster, I said "Brandon, football is a gentleman's game, one shout respect the referee's decision even if one disagrees with it. Now quieten yourself down, we're trying to watch some football."

A few days later we are in the same pub watching Frank Lampard's "goal" being disallowed vs the Germans. Fair to say I was not alone in making my feelings about the ref clear to all.

He just looked over at me and said "BL, football is a gentleman's game and one should respect the referee's decision..."

Not overly fussed, I just want Croatia out any which way possible. Still haven't forgiven the b@stards for 3 years ago.

England only had themselves to blame for losing the semi-final. Had the game by the scruff of the neck in the first half, didn't make what they should have of it and paid the price when Croatia's superior midfield turned the screw.

Are you SURE that the third placed team in our group definitely makes it? Cos I'm not.

If we beat the Czechs, and Scotland draw with Croatia, then Croatia will finish third on 2 points with a goal difference of -1.

Switzerland, FInland and the Ukraine all have more than 2 points. They are all through. Three teams in group F already have more than 2 points. Therefore I cannot see how 2 points will be enough to see a team through from our group.

Maybe you meant "Now that 3rd in our group defo makes it, if and only if there is a winner in the Scotland-Croatia game".

But in any event, I don't want Scotland to win. They get very excited when we lose, they take up a ridiculous amount of political bandwidth for a place with the population of 10 Bradfords, they get a lot more money per capita from the exchequer than the average UK citizen, their MPs get to vote on English laws but not vice versa, etc etc. On the other hand, we can't really blame them for Braveheart, and they do have some beautiful scenery...

Your comment about Scottish MPs gives a misleading impression of the reality now. "English" Laws require a majority of English MPs to vote for them.
