Not sure about elsewhere in London but it was nuts here at about 12pm. People queuing 100 deep to get into pubs that were already full. 100% walk-ins rather than booked tables.

my pub friend has closed his bar, even with sit down bookings, they harrassed the staff and were breaking glasses etc. Decided to put staff over profit.

That is thoroughly embarrassing. What's the thought process here? This is why my patriotism only really stretches to supporting the national teams, British sportspeople etc. We're an island of morons.

in normal times, i'd agree, but this is in the middle of a pandemic, a responsible government would've put things in place to cool it down

And someone moaned at me the other having a moan about the 20-30 age bracket.

clearly doesn't include all, same as they'll be some older people involved too, but the majority, well you can see.

Not allowing 60k to it would have been a start, shutting down the streets like they do for the marathon etc would have been the other.

But as long as they make money from today, forget the rest.

i don't think the 60k is the main problem, but some messaging about "keep wearing your mask", "don't gather in large numbers", "don't travel without a ticket" would have been sensible.

They simply cannot win can they?

what like? water cannons?

And so as the loose-bowelled pigeon of time swoops low over the unsuspecting tourist of destiny, and the flatulent skunk of fate wanders into the air-conditioning system of eternity, I notice it's the end of the show
