Anyhoooooooooo, the joys of being a parent part 256473738 11:37 - Jul 19 with 3666 viewsGlasgowBlue

So just after a traumatic few months getting little miss GB into a happy and positive place, I get a call late last night from 21 year old student, GB junior who had broken his leg playing football.

Not to worry I thought. We’ve all done it.

Anyway it turns out that he severed the bone completely and had something called compartment syndrome. All very nasty by all accounts. I’m just relieved to see him wheeled into his room with both legs intact,

He’s had s five hours in surgery and I’m sitting by his bedside whilst he’s doped up to the eyeballs.

Please send some board love to this junior blue.

Hey now, hey now, don't dream it's over

From what I gather that was essentially Roy Keane's advice to Damien Delaney.

Afternoon. So sorry to hear your news GB. In January 2020 I suffered a fall down some concrete steps and snapped my femur close to the hip joint. I had two surgeries, the second one very lengthy. I am now left with permanent disability of having one leg 6 centimeters shorter than the other. I trust that your son’s outcome will be better. The fact thatI am 73 years old is a handicap.

I guess not but are we allowed a sardonic smile at the brazen indifference of that manager to the players he was supposed to keep at the peak of their powers for this club?

Once turned up to a Sunday morning pre-season friendy still quite drunk, our goalkeeper hadn't made it at all so I offered to go in goal. Half an hour in my forearm got squashed under a slide tackle from our centre-back trying to block a shot - ulna and radius both broken in various places, and then had both bones plated back together, but then I got a compartment syndrone, so they couldn't stitch it up for a few days and I had to just sit in a bed full of puss dosed up on morphine while the wound slowly wept with my arm held up in a pitiful black power salute.

Thanks for all the well wishes from fellow blues.

He had a bad turn earlier. Blood pressure dropped. Pupils like pin pricks as he is so full of morphine and has an open wound so he’s been losing a bit of blood.

Stressful time.

Good grief, much more serious than it sounded at first, and that was serious enough. Here's hoping that things improve soon and very best wishes to him...and the rest of the family who I am sure are deeply concerned too.

A wee update.

He had a much better night. His blood pressure is normal and although he's still losing a bit of blood the consultant says this is only to be expected with an open wound. His leg is like a slab of meat that's been cut by a butcher.

He's going back to theatre tomorrow to see if it can be closed up and he is going to need plastic surgery at some stage.

I've read him all of the kind messages and he gave a thumbs up.
