This place doesn’t half make me laugh… 09:00 - Aug 15 with 6614 viewsKieran_Knows

… like, I get it, the takeover, Ashton coming in, a massive turn around in players … it’s all shiny and new, and for some people, they’ll never have a word said against it. But for those that share their ‘concerns’, we’re seen as massive ‘COOK OUTERS’.

It was only a few weeks ago me and a few others were saying how poor it was going in to pre-season with only 2 new signings (Evans and Burns at the time). Now don’t get me wrong, Ashton has had a massive job on his hands with regards to player recruitment, but here we are, 2 league games in to the season, still playing like a bunch of strangers and a back 4 that couldn’t look anymore disjointed if it tried. Funny though, because we was told ‘BuT tHe TRanSFeR WInDoW DOesN’t ClOsE tILl tHE ENd OF auGUSt’.

That’s all well, but carry on as we are, and come the end of August we’ll be off the pace and still technically need a pre season for the new signings to get up to speed.

All being said, I think the side picks itself now;
Hladky
KVY Edmundson Burgess Coulson
Harper Evans
Edwards Fraser Chaplin
Pigott

We really need to get all them fit, get them on the training ground working together as a unit and hopefully start picking up wins and points ASAP.

I know this’ll get loads of downvotes, but meh, just some Sunday morning thoughts. We’re not Cook outers, we just have concerns.

The problem is, there are many posters unable to ignore last season to just go with this season as new and in it's beginning stage.

If Cook left tomorrow and a new manager came in, you would give him time. No different to how it should be with Cook

Am i blind? no, fraser on the flanks I don't get, but I also can see that through performances there are alot of positives to take that weren't there in the past. The amount of fullback crosses being put in etc is a lot higher. Some aren't of great quality. But that will come with either improvement by the player in question or that player is replaced by a better option. BUT the style and what PC is looking to do is clear to see.

It's the same people continuing their negative persuation like it's cool to be negative. I've seen ' Deserved nothing, got nothing' regarding yesturday, which is pathetic to be honest.

If it's not Cook out, why the continued push to spread negativity? what does it achieve? trying to turn more and more into negative town fans? how does it help?

We're told being patient and remaining calm about things is lacking ambition, yet constantly moaning about things yet not calling for PC's head is what exactly? just moaning for the sake of it? if it's that bad then surely you are calling for Paul's head no? if not, shut up and enjoy the positives that are there, as there are plenty. If you wish to carry on with the negativity, fine.. but be brave enough to back it up and say Cook out.

Nonsense.

We will be fine times and patience are different now to when Robson and Ferguson walked into the job.
For years we have watched rubbish to be honest , stick together as for KVY
come on his being long time injured maybe take a couple of months physically
And maybe longer mentally.
So get behind them stop the trolling

Not trolling. I just think that Burns will struggle to get into the side as an attacking player now. So possibly he could fill in for KVY at right back for a few games to give KVY a bit more time to prepare himself physically and mentally.

I think Edwards, Fraser and Pigott will start most games. Probably Chaplin too, so won't give Burns much opportunity in attack. Don't think he'd really be an impact sub.

With KVY's end product being as bad as it has been, I can see Burns going in to RWB. Which I don't wish to say as I love KVY.

What's your point exactly? For someone who bangs on about how the forum is for expressing opinions whenever anyone points out you're talking guff you sure like to try to tell others what they can and can't discuss.

Cook was here for over a third of last season and didn't do a very good job. For some people that factors into how they see things. For you it doesn't. It's really not hard. And it's perfectly possible to be on the fence about Cook - understandable even given his record here to date - rather than being a cheerleader without wanting him gone.

Absolutlely, it's a place to air your opinions. My point is back them up and be brave to say you dont think he's the man for the job based on what he's done so far and doing...

Otherwise, if you're remaining patient and still believe he can do it then where is the point in talking about last year? why does it come into the discussion? what is the point?

is it hard to discuss 2 league games and discuss what has happened in them? in their own rights, perhaps if it was discussed in that way, you'd then question what exactly did PC do wrong in those 2 games? i've not seen much of that other than poor results & last season....

He's not policing anything, he's giving his opinion. And I think he has a point. Not all (and some getting upset probably don't fall into Makin's beef) but there does seem to be a 'cool to criticise' element on here. Contrarians rather than people with measured concerns.

It feels like there are some hedging their bets to win the internet - "I called it first", but when they get criticised they say "I never said Cook out (explicitly)". They won't, because they know that looks silly. Nevertheless there are the same people jumping on every little thing to make it a stick to beat Cook with. The guy the other day (forget his username) moaning that Cook not playing enough first-teamers against Newport is hypocritical because they need to gel - you just know he'd been complaining it's a huge risk if Cook DID play them).

Making the odd comment where you don't agree with the manager is fine. I did so the other day, saying I think he could've had another defender on a 7-man subs bench. But it's the constant chipping away by some that I disagree with. Some do little else but criticise. Some seem very impatient and have unrealistic demands on what is a huge reset for both the club generally and the first team specifically. If they think Cook is doing some good things they don't seem to post about it. That said, maybe people are more inclined to post the negatives because they're more pressing concerns and just posting praise doesn't lead to debate.

I don't think forums are for you. You don't seem to be able to handle someone having a different opinion. Makin's not an idiot (well not in this instance). He just sees things in a different way to how you do.

It's perfectly easy to disagree with him without throwing your toys out and calling him an idiot.

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

He has literally said that people making criticism must be Cook out. It is horse sh1t. This after numerous posts telling Phil that his questioning style wasn't positive enough.

Anyway, I've stuck him on ignore now to save the aggro.

Ipswich fans last season: there is a losing mentality at this club, we accept mediocrity and need a clear out to get winners 8n.

Ipswich fans after 2 defeats and a draw: what a promising start, we're playing great football.

Painfully accurate.

I think we’ve needed actual competitive games. We’ve grown into both League games – it took Evans and Harper the first half to get settled and get more of a grip and they’re easily the most complete area and partnership on the pitch.

And we could have won both games without too many complaints.

Couple that with an almost completely new first-choice defence that’s likely by the end of the month and I think we’re developing fine performance-wise. The results have been a disappointment but let’s see where we are when the team itself emerges through these games.

Ultimately we need a team that can develop and build rather than a team that gets off to a streaky start with lots of wins and then never progresses. Which we’ve seen each of the past two seasons.

There is a bit of an issue though, where you say we've grown into games.

We've looked better generally after going behind. That's as much to do with the opposition sitting back and letting us have the ball as anything else. We look pretty decent in possession with little pressure but we've created few genuinely good chances since Cook has been in charge. Its been pretty similar to Lamberts relegation - poor results but fans talking up performances that weren't actually all that great.

Not 1 of the sides in the 3 games we've played ( 2 league ) have hurt us defensively from a point where they were in control of the ball going into their attack. Our individual errors have caused the goals. It would be more worrying if we were being dominated and we were struggling against sides. But we're not.

It's not similar to the relegation season at all.

ah, that's where you're getting confused

I've not said don't air your views. carry on. just man up about them and be proud of your own thoughts that you're not a PC fan and you'd prefer him not to be here.

As said, that's for those that and I Repeat again as you appear to be struggling, those that bring up LAST season along with this one in their views, and bring up his result stats etc as a clear example of your thoughts that he's not been good enough....

IF you however feel he should be given more time...... then surely your thoughts on his past becomes redundant and you're giving him time with the rest of us, so therefore how about looking at the positives to take from the 2 2 games we've had.

We arent being dominated because we are now a division lower but the overall fan view of bigging up very average performances is still happening - most exciting in 30 years really being the one that puts the icing on the cake of tragedy.

He's aimed it at posters who have criticised Cook based on last season's results when he took over because he thinks it's irrelevant. He probably should respect others may have a different opinion and are entitled to see it in a different way.

Having said that, he is right, it is irrelevant
