"I spoke to a Championship club about three months ago. It was very casual, it was at my house, a chat with the chairman.

"And to be fair, he was straight up, he went, ‘Listen, we just want somebody who can come in and win football matches’."

This line got me, clearly talking to the wrong person in Keane then...

Anyone know who we signed Pablo from initially?

What I'd give for a striker of his quality here now.

Pablo & Kuqi up top. Jheez.

He was class. Unplayable at times

I think it was probably Jim's last game when we beat norwich and he was incredible

It will be a long time until we see another player as good. McGoldrick the only one that comes close

McGoldrick was better. Absolutely crucial to getting us playing and pulling us up the pitch.

Pablo less so. Fantastic to watch when the team was on song and we could get the ball into his feet in the right areas.

Similar skill level but it’s a case of Necessity vs. Luxury. The irony is that they probably would have played off each other very well .

But he went more than twice as long before winning a game in his first full season as Cook's run so far in his.

Tho the latter could still break that record.

Oof! If only we had more Pablos, although he's no Kuqi ;)

Don’t reckon he scraped much more than a goal every 4 games.

Pablo or McGoldrick...oh gawd, what have I started...

Anyway, Pablo 54 goals in 214 appearances, you are correct
Shefki 30 goals in 83 appearances - much better
McGoldrick 40 goals in 146 appearances - also better

However, we should take into account the disruption they caused to opposition defences that allowed other players to score for Town. Pablo and McGoldrick have very clear contributions from their style of play as opposed to Shefki, or for that matter Murphy, who were more out and out target men.

Pablo Hits Back at Keane 8th Oct 2014 15:07
Former Blue Pablo Couñago has hit back at his one-time boss Roy Keane for his comments in his new book, The Second Half. Keane was highly critical of the 35-year-old Spaniard in the chapter about his time with the Blues, branding the striker “dead lazy” and revealing that he almost attacked him after a game. 81

You can always spot a football illiterate by the players and managers they rate or don't rate.

Pablo is a definite 'barometer' player.
