Narrow minded to want anti-vaxxers to be held to account for undermining public health advice in the middle of a pandemic?
Jeez, what have we become?
No, narrow minded for believing everything you read in the lying media and for talking as though everything is so black and white.
People are being told that they will lose their jobs and be unable to feed their families if they don't consent to a vaccine, a vaccine that we know is far from 100% effective and neither is it 100% safe. This is not morally and ethically ok, it never has been and it never will be. That people are angry and protesting about this is to be expected and for the Police to then respond with brutality is disgraceful. Shame on you if you back such responses.
Jeez, what have we become when people defend actions more akin to China or North Korea in so-called free democracies.
Edit - and also extremely narrow minded to keep trotting out 'ant-vaxxers' without engaging any thought. Does it not occur to you that maybe they just don't want this particular vaccine or want to be given a choice free of threats and coercion? How do you know their Children are not fully vaccinated for example. The press is in the gutter with this divisive rubbish at present and people are falling for it.

No need to apologise for bluntness. Debate is good.
Although, I cannot guarantee all the facts, as indeed you can't, I just feel I need to share what is being discussed outside the mainstream media, which I'm sure we all agree aren't always honest with the facts. There are some independent reporters who have filmed everything all day and they show a very different story.
Although, I don't understand the Union thing and the internal battles within the Victorian Labor party the Tradies gathered in their thousands outside the CFMU the other day protesting that Setko had not supported them in opposition of the Vaccine Mandate. Seiko eventually came out and addressed them asking for an hour when he would come back to them with a solution. This is all on film so fact. Instead, as they waited he went on 3AW radio and called them out as right wing extremists. He also called on the police.
When the protesters heard him on the radio it all went off.
Dan Andrews then shut the Industry down.
As regards the Shrine thing. There is a lot of evidence that the police manoeuvred the protesters to the Shrine to discredit them. Now, how true that is I don't know but apparently drones and Ariel footage show this. It is interesting though, that today the police attempted to ban all air traffic above Melbourne.
Many, many protesters have been badly injured. There is stacks of footage. With all due respect it's not just the police who have got injured. Far, far more protesters have been hurt by the police. There is the viral footage of the 70 year old woman posing no threat pushed to the ground and sprayed with mace while she was down the other day. The Age has a complaint in about a photographer that was attacked by police.
I don't know the answer to all this. But what's going on in Australia at the moment is absolutely shocking me.
I hope you're well Victory.

On a separate subject, why has the vaccine roll out been slower over there than in many other parts of the world? Is it because there have been fewer deaths and so Covid doesn’t feel as lethal? Or is there more scepticism in regards to vaccine roll out?

Bit of all of that adding in the fact that their orders went tits up by countries withholding them/not ordering enough etc..
I think the vaccine hesitancy was also quite key as they really didn't suffer that many cases or deaths' for the best part of a year, but as we have seen, Delta is now ripping through.
FWIW I read that they will have vaccinated 70% of the population by the end of October, so they are getting there.

It's not slow any more. It's, I think, the fastest in the world at present. Started very slowly quite simply because we had no cases let alone deaths. Also at the start Australia only had AZ which caused hesitancy due to the adverse reactions. Once Pfizer arrived it started to really pick up.

Have a look at his username, then think of a football team that has the first word in their name...
I really couldn't care less, he speaks rubbish. I have seen first hand evidence and heard first hand accounts, more than enough to know that what is going on out there is very wrong.

There has been a number of videos on social media showing the brutality of Australian police. Sooner rather the later they are getting removed.
Poor Australian people. Feel really sorry for them. Some European countries are going to see the same terror in their places soon.
You might have missed this, in this country:
The Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Billl, which the Tories are rushing through, outlaws all protest which might "seriously annoy" someone. They won't even need a Public Health excuse.

You've made most of that up in order to create something to get angry about.
- I haven't read anything in the media about this. The only views I've seen are from 2 people on this thread who live (or lived) in Oz.
- No vaccine (or any medicine) is 100% effective or 100% safe, and yes that is both morally and ethically ok as the alternative to not having it is worse for the individual and the community.
- I don't back police brutality. I said "nobody want to see this" about heavy handed policing.
- I'm not defending the police actions (see above)
- Oh, I've thought about it alright and seen the impact the vaccines are having. Thousands of lives are being saved and the benefits far outweigh the low risks. You're as likely to get liver failure from a normal dose of paracetamol than you are a mild myocarditis and pericarditis from Covid faccines (about 1 in a million for each). You don't see too many protests about paracetamol. And besides, the risk of those heart problems is greater in those who have not had a vaccine who then catch covid. And as somewhere like Australia opens up more, more people will become exposed to the virus. It's a no brainer, but has been hijacked by people spreading misinformation on social media (and certain mainstream commentators).
So yeah, people who refuse to get vaccinated are a major problem that risks setting back covid recovery and will lead to more unnecessary deaths.

Whereabouts is he?
He's lives on the Mornington peninsular, 60km from Melbourne. Heard from him this morning .
"Despite the distance from the city, we are still classed as metropolitan which means we have been in lockdown for 240 days and counting, stay at home, only 4 reasons to go out, 5km radius, masks at all times and the draconian list goes on. The kids are struggling, no school, no sport, no social interaction, we are not allowed to meet friends for a chat, have people round, better stop ranting now"
Just a snippet of his message this morning.
We have no village green, or a shop.
It's very, very quiet.
I can walk to the pub.
