Well....having reflected on our start to the season 17:53 - Oct 2 with 7472 viewshomer_123

and the period following Cooks appointment.

That'll do for me, time for a change.

The squad assembled is ridiculous for this level...the backroom is questionable and that really needs to be addressed.

For whatever reason he cannot seem to get us into any kind of consistent form.

I like him, he seems utterly genuine and clearly wants it to work...he has the pedigree but it's not working.

I think we need a change now though.

Nope, not yet. End of October, and still not finding consistency then surely he’ll go.

Having put in three better performances albeit still a bit disjointed (except Donny obvs) I am looking at yesterday as the blip. Doesn’t give Cook a free hit though and we need to be top six this season.

I’m finding it difficult to be sanguine and patient with ITFC any more. Every time there’s a little hope it’s knocked out of me. Football for the most part of fifteen years has now been the thing in my life that brings me down more than up and all the other things, family friends fun work etc, allow me to balance and reflect I’m relatively very lucky. I’d really like footy to give me some consistent pleasure.

If I could just turn my love of Town off like a light switch I am at the stage now when I would. That makes me wryly sad. But I can’t turn it off. Football eh?

Lambert without Culverhouse and now Cook without Richardson!

Crosse without Blackwell. Huntley without Palmer.

Or, Clough without Taylor. Even the best manager the country has ever seen couldn't function without his off-sider.

6/26. Says it all.

Haha, ok, you're not going to actually say he should be sacked so no-one can level that at you if he does turn it around. Always a good idea to hedge your bets I guess.

We have no right to beat anyone but this is the third tier and we can't get results against teams who have resources that are a fraction of ours.

Cook can't just be judged on this season alone. When he came in the play offs were not out of the question and he got even less out of the previous squad than Lambert. A new manager more often than not is able to inject something even if is only short-term.

His overall record with us is appalling and it hasn't been because the opposition has been up to much.

Something needs to change and the only option available to us is a new manager...

I just dont know who an earth would be a better bet. Cooks CV stands out as the most successful manager in the league. Players came here for Cook and if we had any other manager i dont think we'd have been able to attract them to the club. I want us to get out of this league but i really dont want to revert to a Mick style manager now either. I hope we turn the corner because I can't see an alternative.

I think what PC needs is an experienced assistant that he can trust and bounce ideas off .

His previous successes were when he had Richardson with him and not bringing in here is a big loss , judging by the work he is doing at Wigan ,

I so want PC to succeed , but think he needs a mate he can trust to sort out tactics and motivation , this team is underperforming so much .

I'm glad you've finally admitted he should be.

I must admit I'm struggling to defend him now. I still feel the team needs more time to gel (regardless of Tuesday - I didn't think at the time all our problems were fixed) but yesterday was just so drab and didn't even show a chink of progress. I can only hope it's one of those days in isolation - we won't be the first or last 'bigger team' to go there and get that done to them, regardless of where they're at in the gelling process.

But despite that, it does seem like Cook hasn't got many more games to show those signs of consistent progress.

It baffles me that people still bang on about last season (other than to add weight to their argument). It may as well have been a different club (on and off the pitch). However, he has the team he wanted now, albeit some like Morsy came in late, and progress has to be seen to be happening fairly soon.

If it does turn out that Leam Richardson was the brains behind them then it's the last final flourish of mismanagement by Marcus Evans who should've researched this sort of thing. Hopefully Gamechanger's first managerial appointment is a bit more thorough than Evans ever was.

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

we always will be.

if we win the next game 6-0 the cook-inners will say 10 in 5, fabulous form.

if we lose the one after that 1-0 the cook-outers will say 1 win in 3, sack everyone.

the truth is somewhere in between, and i'd give him a while longer to see which way the needle points then. this board is far too schizophrenic based on the most recent result

There is that, but it’s the performance as much as the result that matters when determining what progress there is and looking forward. Fact is we have a very good squad but if we can be bullied and turned over so easily in a half against teams like Stanley we ain’t gonna get out of the third division

No. He has the back room team he’s asked for. No more no less. If he now wants or has imposed on him an ‘experienced assistant’, that just reinforces my view that he doesn’t know what he’s doing.

He either starts doing the job properly or goes. The thin excuses are all used up.

I don’t see what there is left to defend him with, bar his record at other clubs whixh is undoubtedly very good.

Is that worth more than the 16 games last season? For me, no, but appreciate others see that differently.

We’ve somehow got ourselves into a position where we need automatic promotion form over the rest of the season just to get into the playoffs

In his post match comments yesterday he said the team weren't up for it, were miles off it lost every second ball and were second best - which is spot on.

However, all of these were evident by half time (despite being 1-0 up) which makes me wonder what exactly was said at HT? If PC had a go at them then it fell on deaf ears as Town were even worse in the second half. If he thought it was that bad why were there no changes at HT to try to change the flow of the game?

100%.
Cook wanted Richardson, but he chose to remain as boss at Wigan. Cook has brought in a complete new back-room team, so to suggest that a 54 years old manager, with 15 years of managerial experience, needs an "experienced assistant" is to say that he's incompetent & if so, he should go.
We have to give Cook a little longer, but the next 2 games are again against bottom half teams & if the performances don't improve soon, Cook's position is becoming untenable.

I can't put my finger on why we are so bad other than we employ decent footballers but not enough fighters amongst them.

I, amongst everyone has made a big thing about the sheer numbers being changed and I still feel this is having an effect.

I suppose it boils down whether the yanks will stomach this year being a settling in year. If you look at what Watford have done you would have to say Cook is very lucky to still be In a job. Sometimes you just have to be a man and put your hand up and admit you need some help and I think this is where Cook is at. McGreal would be a good start.
