we've just had a disappointing loss to accrington stanley 17:04 - Oct 4 with 2843 viewspositivity

after a few more promising results and displays.

does anyone think cook should go right now and why?

personally, i think he should have longer (partly because we've sunk so much into building the club around him and getting players to his requirements and who've dropped down a level to play for him, that it'd be peak banter era to then sack him after a quarter of the season)

Apart from a couple I still don't believe the majority of this new squad is cooks choice anyway.

Harper. Edwards. Celina. Barry. Fraser.... these have Ashton all over it. They don't suit PCs style. ( they do fit the formation but as per fraser usage... not to cooks taste)

Piggott... a lone striker?

No we don't have a recruitment team. And I know it was 'said' that pc would be involved... but he was not in a position to decline players after getting rid of last year's squad.

He missed out on a few ex Wigan players too who you'd imagine were on his prime target list.

It's not one promising result though. We won at Lincoln and drew against a decent Sheff Weds.

Sheffield Wednesday was a home again against a side 12th in the table, that had lost 2 and drawn one of their 3 preceding games (and just lost 2-1 at home too). Drawing was hardly a disaster but in what world was it a promising result?!

He’s got 10 points from 10 games, and we’ve not played any team in the top 5 as yet (have played MK who are 6th)

If he were to be sacked he couldn’t have any complaints - I think he’ll get a few more games as a managerial overhaul now is the last thing we all want to see - but it won’t be far off of things don’t improve a lot and quickly

I hate manager turnover but it is a little worrying. Saturday is a huge game for him. We currently sit 8th in form table for last 6 games, 4th for last 4 games, win on Sat and we've suddenly got 10 points from last 5 and maybe something to build on. Fail to win on Sat and I think the higher ups might start getting a bit twitchy.

Yep, think we are in almost lose-lose for next couple of games - win and it is the minimum expectation, and until we can carry that run into some tougher games it means little - lose and he's going to be in mega trouble.

I wasn't expecting this season to be easy, far from it, but why is everything at ITFC always so bloody hard!

I haven't denied that. I was just countering Swansea who said we've only had one promising result.

Meh. Both of those currently sitting mid table, but I suppose we have to take 3 points wherever we can get them. Tbh, I can't remember what the Lincoln win was like performance wise.

We've still only played 3 teams currently sitting in the top 10, lost 2 of them (getting thumped by 5 against MK Dons) and drawn the other. It's certainly not promotion form.

lincoln win was exactly what accrington should have been, get the goal whilst on top, then comfortably see the game out.

I think the OTT of thanks is more playing up to the fans tbh about the support, and when you've made a point of getting rid of such an amount of players, you'd better thank the board for doing it's best to sort the situation out.

And btw, it's not an excuse for rubbish performances, it's a reason for a rubbish performance from PC and not moving with the situation and acknowledging exactly what he has at his disposal.

Not many clubs could swap a side around to match a fixture. I.E saturday was a day for Aluko, Norwood, Toto. Bigger players for a match of that type. it wasn't going to be pretty, we didn't need flair.

Then when you can express yourself, you then have Fraser, Celina, Edwards etc

Totally agree with your last two paragraphs. It is a bit concerning that Paul would not see that. It's all very Groundhog day and the Lambertitus virus seems to have struck again.

see your point, but can you imagine the stick he'd get if he'd changed a side that won 6-0 because we were afraid of accrington?!

They're a decent side who will be up there (but have made a similarly slow start), and it was part of a 3 game run of not losing after getting tanked by Bolton. I see that as promising. If you don't want to see it like that, that's up to you.

Nevertheless, Lincoln away can only be seen as promising can't it? In which case I'm right to say we haven't had just one promising result. Unless you want to twist that in some way to make it less than promising.

Doesn't really matter what you and I think does it? The debt pedallers put ihim in on the advice of O'Leary and Ashton whilst the deal was being finalised - and they took the adivce of all three in destroying what they had bought and starting again - so I suspect they are in it toether for as long as the spreadsheet and powerpoint presentation holds with the duped bloke in Ohio.

All involved were very careful to pretend they were in it for the long haul, whilst greatly overestimating their own abilities, so it's daft to expect any changes this season unless near relegation form coalesces into real relegation form. As you say many of the Cookster's duds are here because of him - so to sack him would make a comical and chaotic situation considerably worse.

You get so much, so wrong so often yet still seem to think that if you present your weird assertions as fact and in an authorative way people will take you seriously.

As long as we won the game though, after the game there wouldn't be any stick, it's his job to decide how best to win the game, and just because we won 6-0 doesn't mean that team should start the following game. 5 x 6ft players and we play midgets in comparison

"as long as we won the game", maybe

but it's not guaranteed that if you play a rusty toto, a rustier nsiala, and an unproven aluko that this will guarantee a win

always more likelier to win with the team in form; the "hot hand" if you like

by all means change it if we're getting bullied, that's where i want to see cook step up, not engaging in lambingo for the hell of it

Indeed, one of the major criticisms of Lambert was the way he kept chopping & changing line-ups & formations, even after a good performance. At least Cook hasn't been doing that - he's been criticised for sticking to his favoured formation - but I would rather he did that than playing Lambingo every week.

Of course no Guarantee of a win, but possibly more chance.

It's not Lambingo to make sensible changes, Aluko isnt unproven, he's had over 200 championship appearances. Toto is toto, he got thrown in last year following injury and didn't look out of place.

Hopefully though, PC has learnt from it.

possibly, but more possibly not.

aluko is unproven at ipswich, one good performance, one bad, some alright.

chucking toto in straight back from injury is something we'd do in previous seasons, and it led to a lot of injuries. stick to the defence that let in 1 goal in 3 games is more sensible.

I have no idea why you refer to twisting things, I just said a home draw against a mid table team was not a promising result, because it wasn’t. I didn’t reference the Lincoln game or make any arguments against that point

One promising result. I don’t really care whether he stays or goes, but let’s not gloss over how poorly things are going. If the aim is promotion he’s miles off target so far.

We don’t seem to be able to cope with the dirty, route one sides, which is odd given Cook started in non-league. I have a feeling this season from here on in will be an exceptional home record and a patchy away one - whether that’s enough, who knows?

If the performance let alone the result isn’t a reality check to some players then we could be in trouble. Some days sides just never show up. Here’s hoping Morsy’s summary was right and that it was on them given they were well prepared.
