Town's current longest serving player? 10:44 - Oct 6 with 2866 views | Edmundo | I saw an archive story about the legend that is Micky Stockwell. 15 years plus at Town, spanning 2 promotions. Who's the currently longest serving? My hunch is current Mr No Number, Myles Kenlock (1st teamer since 2015)., gawd knows who'd be next...

If you count his loan then Donacien was signed first out of the players from the Hurst reign (31st July compared to 8th Aug for Nolan and Toto and 9th Aug for Jackson). He’ll outlast them all too

Town's current longest serving player? on 14:01 - Oct 6 with 2147 views | The_Major | So, question is, who's the longest ever? Mills had 16 years, but if we're talking over more than one period then it's Wark with 17 according to Wiki. Can that be beaten?

Nope, quite simply! Mills made first team appearances for us in 18 different seasons, making his debut in 1965-66, and his final appearance in 1982-83 Warky made appearances is 19 seasons 1974-75 until 1983-84 (10 seasons) 1987-88 until 1989-90 (3 seasons) 1991-92 until 1996-97 (6 seasons)

Note to self: ignore Wiki. So nobody has hit 20 then? I suppose either Dozzell might have done if they'd stayed with us, but I guess you'd be thinking of people who debuted at 17 at the latest.

Yep, it's incredibly difficult and unlikely to ever happen again for a vareity of reasons - Ryan Giggs managed appearances is 24 seasons for Man U, even if Warky hadn't gone to Liverpool and Boro he'd have only got to 23 here! You basically either need to play until you are nearly 40, or start when you are 17, or ideally both! EDIT - by playing last nigth, Myles has now made appearances in 7 seasons for us. Just 1 fewer than Russell Osman who has managed to clock up nearly 300 games more in 8 seasons! [Post edited 6 Oct 2021 14:44]

The fact that he's on over 100 appearances also made me wonder which outfield player had played the most games without ever scoring - looks like Larry Carberry with 285 appearances.

If you go back to the 50s and 60s, along with Elsworthy, at a guess Tommy Parker would have got near that figure?

John Elsworthy - 16 1949-50 until 1964-65 Tommy Parker is only 11 or 12 (depending on whether you count games in the 1945/46 season)

2 of those seasons were just as a reserve - but I can't imagine there will be anyone with a lower ratio than 175 appearances in 15 seasons! Such a throwback of a role, perennial reserve keeper for a decade

Town's current longest serving player? on 19:56 - Oct 6 with 1557 views | The_Major | I did wonder about Tommy Parker as well tbh. Wondering if there were any players from the Southern League days (1936-38) who were still around when Sir Alf turned up in 1955. They may have been here for nearly twenty years, but of course they would have lost six seasons during the war. Failing that, what about the longest serving member of staff - Pat Godbold, surely? On the playing/coaching staff combined, I'd have thought Burley would have had the most - debuted 1973/74, left summer of 1985 I think (12 seasons) came back as manager 1994/95, left 2002/03 (8 seasons) and there's your 20 different seasons. The only other person who might come close I guess could be Charlie Woods? Thing is, it's a bit problematic putting down dates for him - certain four seasons as a player up to 1970, and then I think he was part of Sir Bob's backroom staff until he went to England - so - if so that's 16 seasons. And then he was part of Burley's scouting network, but I don't know how long for, so that could be an additional potential eight seasons, which gives us a surely cannot be beaten 24. You're right, I've got nothing to do this evening.

Tommy Parkin turned professional at Town aged 17 & was still at Town when aged 27 but had made fewer than 20 first team appearances. I really did wonder why we kept on giving him a new contract. He left Town aged 31 & must have been the "oldest teenager in Town".

Burley is the person with most first team games as played 500 and managed 413. Members of staff an impossible one to know as roles can vary so much.
