... but lets just say in an ideal world we managed to sign Walton and Bonne permanently, the spine to our side for the next few years is not only ridiculous for this level, but would be up there in the Championship as well.

Walton
Edmundson
Morsy
Bonne

If we can keep those 4 fit and in the side, then they're a very solid 4 to build around.

Really? You don’t think that if he finishes this season with 20 - 25 goals then lower or midtable championship clubs won’t be sniffing around?

Possibly but virtually all of those didn't have a pot to urinate in this summer, hence why we managed to get some of the deals done we did. I don't see what will have changed in the past 6 months. I think it would take a proper top end Champ club to be a threat to us - and he won't be the type they sign. Bigger concern for me is QPR deciding they fancy him for the run in this season.

Oh I hear what you are saying, and I’m sure we could offer a very healthy package…

However, it will also come down to if the man himself has ambitious to play as high as he can for as long as he can.

It all depends on what else is on the table, and I'm really not sure that the bigger Champ clubs will be in for him.

If he is ambitious, he should back himself to propel Ipswich into the Championship.

They can recall him in January to sell to the highest bidder though

Indeed.... but the poster suggested they would overprice him.

By definition, if he is overpriced, he wont sell. Hence he will remain at PR for the season.

I suspect they would only recall him if they have a deal lined up.

The difference this time is he already signed a deal in the Championship of the back of a 7 figure transfer so has the security which others didn't

If he finishes with 25 goals, there is a strong likelihood that we will be a championship club.

Problem solved.

I really hope so. He’s been excellent and then some. Feel sorry for Piggot though, sure he wasn’t expecting to be on the bench most weeks. The benefit of a strong squad!

Walton is out of contract in the summer, and being 26 in a few days shouldn't require any compo.

But like Celina, we need to go up to get him - it's why this year is so unbelievably important, and why we can't just live off a few good wins, we need to be relentless.

The Plynouth game was the first away game we fell behind in that we looked like we would get back into - the others we'd lost had just drifted away from us. Last nights result was so important with a 10 day gap coming up

Your last paragraph encapsulates the progress we have made in the last few weeks.

None of us now what will happen, the better our form is then the better chance we have of signing him.

We'll all just have to wait and see.

Walton out of contract end of season as well

Hopefully talks will be held early re Bonne and Walton .

We are building a squad of a good age , not players at the end of their careers

If we can match a championship offer (which I believe we can) then I still think he'd choose us. We'll get there, next season if we don't this.

His interview with talk sport when he basically says 'when we play against Norwich' that just screams to me he's already got his heart set on a perm

The thing we all have to remember, is that our squad will only get stronger from now on. There are some in our starting X1 who will be fringe players in a couple of windows time.

Bonne is a 26 year old striker who hasn't cut it really in the Championship - I think it is a relatively easy deal to get done all things considered and that we will do it regardless of whether we go up or not

From the way Bonne spoke with Bent in the talksport interview if a deal isn't already lined up I'd be surprised, I doubt it will be anything under 2.5m in January and again it wouldn't surprise me if we had to pay another 2.5 upon promotion!!

We can speculate over this til our eyeballs turn pink, reality is the club is gonna have to pull out all the stops to get it done and with everyone who we have running the club now I think we can be very hopeful it will be.

I’m sure we can compete on transfer fee but wages may be another issue particularly if we are still in this division

I think the Bonne deal could be done.

Champ clubs will have reservations about his potency at that level. Did well for Charlton but not so well for QPR.

I think the hype is primarily Ipswich based, and not so heated outside our bubble.

He'll cost a few quid, but I think a deal can be done.

Not forgetting Bonne makes a good point about that extra 10% he gives in a town shirt

Appreciate money is important in the game.. but that 10% can't be exchanged for cash it comes from within.

Never be afraid to share your thoughts.
