And damning endorsement of what most Town fans knew anyway.
Good when he first comes in but hasn’t a clue how to take it forwards .

didnt MM turn down the chance to further strengthen in Jan when we sat 2nd, because he didnt want to risk upsetting the squad?
i'm sure Phil said that before

Had Evans stumped up the cash to get Wood in in January rather than February he’d have been here until the end of the season rather than called back by Leicester so he was willing to get bodies in

From memory there wasn't such a war chest available that he could go out and sign someone of proven quality that would clearly improve the team. That being the case he was reluctant to spend on someone who might come in and disrupt harmony in the squad, which was one of the main contributing factors to us being competitive that season, without any real guarantee they'd improve us. I think anyone who thinks ME was prepared to chuck him a blank cheque or even several million in that window is being naive. He might have released a bit more than he normally would have done but that doesn't go very far in the January window. As it was we signed Sears for £100k and he was very good during our run in, he was scoring not far off a goal every other game.

i'm not sure i mentioned a blank cheque.

we'll never know if player X that never came in would have made the difference or not will we. that we didnt try is frustrating obviously, and if that was down to MM making that decision then so be it.

wood was horrible unfit, no idea how long it would have taken him to get in any sort of position to become a 90min man

If a player had been identified that we could afford and that would have improved us I doubt Mick would have turned down the chance to sign them. When he was given money to spend he generally spent it pretty well. We were clearly looking to make signings given that we brought in Sears and as Joe mentioned, Wood on loan a bit later as well.

Just as he was called back he was looking sharper and sharper.

Had we kept him he would have scored some goals for us.

First time he looked as though he could be anything was Watford away when we played him and Murph up top - and then he was gone a week or two later

entitlement - hahahahahaha ffs. by this you mean fans simply wanting to see us try a little more than hope the murphy trick was going to work every week?

Yes, it's all a question of priorities and preference. A number of fans were perfectly happy to see us get relegated if it meant not playing "anti football" or whatever insult they wanted to use for MM's play. Personally. I'd rather not get relegated, but horses for courses...

Wrong herbz.

2015 Jan was offered funds. Turned it down as didn't want to hurt the current squad.

Confirmed via Phil and others previously.

there were others of the thinking "theres got to be more to football than this, short term we might be worse off, long term it might work out for the best"

Thing is

Right or wrong

People who go pay good money to watch town. This may be the football itself as the reason or to meet mates etc.

It's entirely their choice how they judge it. If they felt the football was boring.. it doesn't matter about off the field or what level we are.

Why people are enjoying football at the moment.. meet friends. Watch goals. Yes we are league 1. But it's the most exciting football at town for the past 16 years without a doubt

This quote is absolutely brilliant!

“But once we got the ball we didn't really know where everyone was going to be, or what to do.”

Have to say, I’m really enjoying myself this season. Norwich rock bottom and Farke sacked. Warnock sacked. McCarthy plummeting out of recognition into oblivion and Town on the up playing good football with a great backing. Get promoted and this will be one of my most favourite seasons since 2000.

A lot of us said we may need to take a step back to go two forward. That step back meant we now have GameChanger. No-one wants to be in League One but was it worth the ignominy to free us from Evans? In my view, absolutely.

Oh I agree. Although I think he is brought up as much by his supporters as he is by his detractors.
But this is a board that still debates Pablo v Kuqi, so there's no hope...

I haven’t seen a Mathie V Scowcroft thread lately, so people do move on over time.

Ironic isn’t it Mullet crying, “Revisionism” all the time. MM came in pre - Birmingham and communicated to the fans that the ambition was promotion, yet Mullet thinks we’re “entitled”.

I still enjoy reading these threads. Is there a correlation between the staunch MM fans and those who haven’t accepted Cook yet? Seems like it to me. Make of that what you will but it speaks volumes in my view.

Please can we see the evidence about this claim of promotion when we were 8 points away from getting out of the bottom 3, shouldn’t be too difficult to find but I genuinely can’t remember it

I'm still waiting for Mullet to say sorry to me for blaming me for an ITFC fan trying to headbutt him at Villa away.
He blamed it on me, because the guy said my name. I wasnt even at the game.
I even offered him the guilty party as wasnt impressed at all that my name had been thrown around for absolutely no reason, yet he didnt want to know, obviously.

Reality is, he failed, which is OK but he did fail so I think Mullet is way wide of the mark dishing it out calling fans “entitled” when it was constantly stated our aims and ambitions were bigger.
