If this has already been brought to their attention and not dealt with by Yorkshire CCC, it only makes the whole thing worse. However, I suspect it was not. Which then begs the question why has it come to light now? Has someone been desperately trying to get this dealt with and only now got attention? Or has someone chosen to bring this to light in order to somehow reduce the impact of the abuse Rafiq has already brought to light?
Well handled by Rafiq and exactly what he is seeking from those he has brought attention to. They cannot change what they did historically, however, they can apologise and do all they can to prevent it happening in the future. |  |

To be honest it’s hardly surprising, just for one moment it helps all of us to put ourselves in Rafiq’s shoes, imagine suffering racism for most of your life from school age onwards then embarking on the career of your dreams only to find it continuing there too, you must feel under siege? Constant prolonged racism must almost normalise it? I’m not excusing what he said but surely as a person of colour he’d suffered way above and beyond what many of us could imagine. Just proves how far as a nation we still have to go regarding racism. | | | |
