The thing that gets me... 23:53 - Nov 22 with 3924 viewsOriginalMarkyP

The football is better than last year.

But the tactical inflexibility is just the same if not more solidly entrenched.

The results are by and large the same. The postion slightly worse.

And everyone who says it's a rebuild, fair enough. BUT if we don't go up this season, as some have already pointed out a lot of the players in that rebuild will go.

And then where are we?

Morsy for one. He didn't really want to come here, the move was more or less forced upon him by boro. He's 30. He's an international. He should be playing champ football and wants to play champ football and doesn't at his age have another year to waste in League 1.

Chaplin, I think would go. He clearly isn't happy with being dropped when playing well. Again he's a champ player and has stated he doesn't want to be in L1. I think he'd go.

Walton, Bonne, Celina obvs as loans. Coulson and Barry too but they've not really made an impact anyway.

I think Fraser would go, or push for a move. I get the impression he feels he's played out of position (when he actually plays) and this is stalling his progression. He'd like to get into a Scotland squad and that won't happen when he's a bit part player here.

That's quite a few of our better players.

If that’s their attitude the sooner they’re gone the better. I don’t ever want to see people here that think they are doing the club or the manager a favour. We’ve had enough of that with managers and players in the last 14 years.

I doubt what you are saying is how it is but time will tell. If you are right then you have probably identified why any organised in your face team walks away with at least a point when playing us.

No, it's not obvious, hence my asking the question. Perhaps you could pay me the courtesy of attempting to answer it.

The rest of your post is excuse-making.

It still baffles me that some consider 3 years in this league to be acceptable for a club of this size, and are now lining up their ducks to make even more excuses, for spending even longer down here.

There's literally no point in answering you. You know what it is and everyone who's spent any time on here knows what it is.

The fact that you think the rest of my post is excuse making (and presumably those excuses aren't valid in your eyes) shows you've set your stall out and won't be budged.

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

You're wrong though... I can certainly be budged if results get worse (or don't improve enough to get us near the play offs).

I judge things on facts and logic. To me it seemed logical the team would need time to gel, for example. If it never gelled then I'd want Cook out. I'm not married to the bloke!

Equally, when people like Herbs say there's no evidence we're better at attacking now - I look at the league tables and see we've scored more goals than everyone except Liverpool and Fulham. FACT!

I don't know why some of you aren't seeing the facts and logic I'm seeing. Baffles me.

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

I'm amazed these lot keep getting the benefit of the doubt.

Would Plymouth, Sunderland, Wigan or Rotherham swap defences with us? No chance. Are Bonne, Norwood, Pigott the best strikers in the league, of course not. That means we do not have the best squad. Midfield/ Attacking Midfield yes, easily the best, but not in the other positions.

Sunderland definitely would, they've got no full backs fit.

Every single team would take Edmondson, quite possibly JD too. It's not that long ago Woolf was linked to the Prem either which shows how slippery this sort of thinking is and utterly fruitless.

Thanks for agreeing. Finally somebody who understands how football works.

Damned if you do, damned if you don’t. When Lambert began flexing the side from the 442 we fell apart. When Mick was nothing other than pragmatic and durable, it was loathed. The former had no identity, the latter a terrible one.

Our identity is good now. Whether it’s good enough to be inflexible formation wise is in the balance. PC does plenty in game to tweak it, it largely goes unnoticed though as it’s subtle.

You're not taking into account the fact our side is underperforming with a manager who's shown little ability to get more than the sum of their parts.

I like the jumping through hoops to excuse the fact our manager has been next to useless since he came in. After all, that worked really well for us with Lambert, Hurst etc.
