So, what was going on in the background 17:48 - Dec 5 with 4394 viewsNorthLondonBlue2

…that Cook had to deal with? We know his father passed recently, which must have been tough to deal with. But what was Norwood hunting at? Dressing room unrest? Overbearing interference from Ashton/the owners? Players still not settling in?

Anyone got the scoop?

Really? I mean...we'll find out soon enough. If Norwood and Kenlock come back into the fold then we know that isn't the case. Jackson appeared from nowhere recently...so not sure your assumption is accurate.

Kenlock cannot come back as he is not on the 25 declared to the league

There are certain things a medical professional cannot possibly diagnose as ok or not and need the opinion of the patient.

See Coulson saying he was fine to carry on as proof that players aren’t the best at self diagnosing

A player telling the manager his hamstring feels fine is 100% better than a medical person saying it isn't.

which worked out really well for coulson, walters etc etc etc

Disagree. I have played on with a fractured hand, torn ankle ligaments and a dislocated toe that i popped back in myself. All because i really wanted to play. Predictably, i was crap all three times. I'm nowhere near professional level but i think the theory still applies.

Quite.

The medical team aren't so interested in pride, whereas a player is more likely to declare himself fit.

More so if he feels there's pressure to say so and doesn't want to let anyone down.

Why would Ashton say Norwood can't play? Seems a bit pointless?

Yeah, only Ipswich could suffer horrendous luck with injuries for years and then have fans saying it’s a problem when we assemble a trained professional team to improve that area. Mind boggling. Listen to any professional footballer past or present and they’ll tell you they’ve played through injuries they shouldn’t have, or lied about the severity etc.

As very general rule, people who think they know better than people paid to know about these things don't tend to do particularly well.

Sometimes, things 'feeling' better aren't the same as actually BEING better.

I accept that as a general rule, though in my experience there are few people who know their bodies better than experienced professional athletes.

Whether Norwood is an athlete or professional, is another question.

Think Andy Rolls role here is bigger than most people realise with regards to declaring players as available for the manager to select

Traffic light system

It has its perks but also negatives.

For example Pigott coming off before chelts scored from long throws.. Pigott chest vest flagged that he needed to come off..

Never be afraid to share your thoughts.

Seems to be working. We've had several players out each season with serious injuries, but none this season.

Yep, I guess issue for Cook is it isn't the job he signed up for - the next man coming in will be coming in with his eyes open as to what the structure is
