Will today be a Stone Island away day or a good one? 08:47 - Jan 8 with 4868 viewsMatt_Netherlands

Lots of comment on here after the Charlton game about the idiots who come out if the woodwork for the London away games, seemingly with powdered noses and auditioning for green street.

Never got that feeling at Gillingham before, even though it’s just as close as some of the london games….

Out of your depth here pal. You’re not into clothes, fine. It’s unfortunate stone island had entered the public imagination in the place it has but calling it overpriced tat is just showing yourself up

Most of the people commenting about fashion on here probably wear XXXXXXL Town shirts down to their knees over the top of a fleece.

Zxblue - I am sorry but you are coming across as very narrow minded

As I said in my original response these generalisations about people in society has to stop

If you have a daughter and her boyfriend turns up in a stone island jumper will your first comment to her be ‘you cant go out with that drugged up hooligan’

What about the statement I have made is incorrect.

You are making out that an informed choice is equivalent to racism.

Guardiola wears it, most likely, because he's paid to wear it.

As for 'normal' people - we generally choose not to wear it because it's overpriced tat aimed at drugged-up wannabe thugs who get raging boners watching Green Street or having The Football Factory read to them, and would run a mile in soiled pants if they ever encountered an actual hooligan.

My son wears Stone Island, amongst other labels.

He isn't a drugged-up wannabe thug. He's just obtained a first in Politics at Stirling University. This year he will go on to do his Masters in International Business.

The association is all yours though - I know plenty of people who wear Stone Island clothes who don’t even watch football. That you can’t get past your prejudice isn’t something for anybody else to worry about.

Stone Island quality dropped about 20 years ago around the same time they replaced the green edged badge to a solid black one.

I think you were sporting some SI knitwear last time I saw you. Genuine question here as it is obvious SI has been associated with football hooliganism for years - although it is plainly more mainstream these days - but, if you wear SI to football should you complain if you get called out by opposition firm whilst walking back to the station?

It’s still miles better in terms of quality than Lacoste, Ralph Lauren etc.

Tbh I can count on one hand the amount of times that’s happened in my life, SI or not. It’s everywhere now - raves, festivals etc., so it isn’t ubiquitous with wanting to kick peoples heads in at all.

Given that London away tickets sell before they get to general sale, I'm not sure the idea that we have a very different cohort going to them is entirely tenable.

Yeah I get that - but my question remains.

I don't think I've bought any SI for 15 years and if I do I would buy a classic pre 2000 item. Actually I tell a lie, I bought a jacket off a mate of mine a couple of years ago, it was hardly worn and fairly new - and a couple of buttons fell off and I lost them, phoned up UK main dealer (that little place off Oxford St) and they couldn't get replacement buttons in and could have cared less really.

Personally I think it's now overpriced for what it is, same goes for CP. Thinking about it I've got a lovely long length pre 2000 leather coat that has always been too big for me, any use to you?
