With covid deaths and hospitalisations.... 20:17 - Apr 7 with 2288 views | BanksterDebtSlave | ....seemingly on the up, I wonder if there is a daily death rate at which the government will have to reintroduce free testing? Also it sounds like there is a nasty flu type thing out there too to complicate matters.

And imagine how high cases really are given the lack of testing now happening compared to before Hospitalisations over 20k is not good news at all, because it is crippling the NHS (again)

Yeah, I would think that the official figures around cases are now meaningless. Loads of people I know have had Covid lately and most seem to just be going off the LFT and not bothering with the full test. I’m a way that’s also a good thing if people’s symptoms are mild enough that they don’t think it’s worth bothering about.

Just looking at the hospitalsation figure, it is at 20,000 which was the peak in the first lockdown wave. Presumably many less are now in intensive care and on ventilators?

I could be wrong but I believe that's the guidelines now. You don't got for a PCR if your LFT is positive | | | | Login to get fewer ads

There are fewer in ICU, but the extra caution due to Covid positive cases is causing extra work and fewer beds are available The covid-sceptics are celebrating positive cases have fell by a 1/3 in the last week, but they are comparing free test period vs paid tests as of 1st April. As Swansea said above, daily figures for tests are now meaningless. Hospitalisations are continuing to creep up which is no good for anyone

Thursday 7th April 47,126 new positive tests - peak was 183,084 16,600 patients in hospital with Covid - peak was 34,336 Covid patients not primarily being treated for Covid is 58% Source - coronovirus data gov uk My elderly neighbour next to my office is very old and weak, I visit her a couple of times weekly to make sure she is ok. On Sunday she got Covid, today she is feeling better. My mother has a history of chest and bronchitis, she had covid a few weeks ago and only had a mild cough. My daughter however who is front line got Covid for at least the second time a couple of weeks ago and although now testing negative she has signs of long Covid. You talk about Covid sceptics, people like Le Tiss are a royal pain in the arse - as are people who wet themselves over it. It will be with us for some time, possibly forever. We have to just deal with it.

Could well be, I've lost track and then we're different in Wales anyway so I always muddle things up. If that's the case then the official line is to make test meaningless and they should probably stop publishing case figures and only keep the death ones.

Pretty much this. So long as it remains mild for the vast majority then you’re right, life will for the most part have to go on. Add an annual covid shot at the same time as flu shot and away we go.

Spot on. They don’t give a monkeys. If they were ever truly interested beyond drink ups and trips to Barnard Castle they aren’t now. Let the bodies pile high, to quote the dream of our glorious leader. The daily figures are meaningless now apart from hospital admissions and deaths.

Seems to me that the one thing that can't be tinkered with or altered to suit is the excess death rate. This is the latest, with the same month of 2020 also given for comparison - https://www.ons.gov.uk/peoplepopulationandcommunity/birthsdeathsandmarriages/dea

Fund the NHS properly so it can cope better, and get on with it as something else amongst the long list of things which can make you unwell.

I agree with you and Lucan. We need to learn to live with it, but that is different to the approach of Boris which is just “feck it” and let everyone just do what they want.
