Is there WiFi at Portman Road? 16:20 - May 4 with 3050 viewswkj

Asking as I would like to be able to still make lots of hot takes and bother the chat room whilst I watch the games in person whilst listening to the radio.

Thanks

SB

Not for the stadium. There is for Press, admin, etc, but not for fans.

There's barely a mobile signal either

1900's I swear. I certainly hope GC20 will get with the times and install some, as well as USB C charging ports in my chair.

not many places would be installing free wifi for 25000 people to use 4 hours a month, and even if they did, the bandwidth would be awful

So, what you're saying is that if one was to offer Phil a packet of hob-nobs, he'd give you his wifi password?

I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.

It was L1nesman for years over in the D block. Fairly sure half the stand was using it given the speed.

What sadly happens when you pack 20,000 people into half a square mile and they all bounce off the same mobile mast. You'll find it improves if you wait for the stadium to empty.

At HT I always change from 4G to 3G and it works.

Because most are on 4G and not even thinking about switching to 3G.

It was a massive problem for us when I was doing the footy photography. Liverpool was fkin awful, by far the worst in the Prem. Under premier league rules, clubs have to provide either 20 x pitch side ethernet connections behind each goal and working press Wifi.

All well and good, but after the first year of that rule, it was hit and miss as to whether or not the ethernet connections actually worked, and in some grounds, stewards would give the press wifi passwords to their mates in the crowd.

It took about a month until the password was around enough fans that at half time the wi-fi slowed to a crawl.

Most of us took the option to pay for a Mi-Fi Wireless hotspot, initially on 3, which was the fastest, and then eventually EE which was quickest.
