Starmer and Truss just walked out of parliament having been handed notes.

At least everyone should still have their Union Jack bunting to hand.

Isn’t bunting used as more of a celebration than for death?

Not a joke, that seems to have been a rather large fk up.

Quite, she did actually visit a hospice in July.

And at her age possibly not the most appropriate place to suggest a visit.

Good question. When Diana died were any games called off? Vaguely remember a minutes silence.

Yea think they did.
I think it was Birmingham away that was postponed

Does this mean the football may be off Saturday?

Yes, it will. All sports, events, and things like the stock exchange will close, period of mourning for 10 days.

The PL games were postponed that Sunday afternoon. Don’t believe we played the following week anyway in the end due to it being an international weekend.

All the BBC peeps are in black, probably a precaution but never know.

So if she died Saturday, the game would be cancelled?

Good spot. It certainly would appear that those who 'need to know' have been tipped the wink.

As the BBC quite-rightly states, The Palace is well-known for not usually commenting on things like this, and for keeping it understated on the occasions that they do.

Because of 10 days of national morning. Not sure if it is or not, but wouldn't be that surprising if it is

Yes, I'd assume the match would be abandoned mid-way through if need be.

You are not. ha. Didn't mean to sound insensitive there, but haven't been to PR in weeks so looking forward to it. And I like the Queen, so obviously hope she's ok.

I sincerely hope not. I wish no ill will on the queen even though I'm not a monarchist, but football has nothing to do with it so I don't see why they would, or should, stop people's entertainment. It's also rather short notice to just cancel everything. People have bought tickets for events, train tickets, booked hotels etc.

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

Yeah, no I agree. I'm frantically checking to see any news because I need my football fix haha. But I do think those are the rules.

I agree with you regarding how overblown and inappropriate it's likely to be. However, I'm inclined to believe that the massive overreaction will extend to cancelling all fun with immediate effect.

The Guardian reported on what would happen in the event of the queen dying (a while back) and there was talk of it being managed this way to give people a chance to prepare for the news coming out formally.

Not a royalist at all but do feel this is a sad day for the country. She has worked incredibly hard and has been one of our best ambassadors for so long.

My friendly advice to royalists would be to use social media with caution over the next few days and weeks. There will be many people that seek to troll you and elicit a reaction. That's not to say that all criticism of the Queen and the family is unfair, but beware of the edgelords that will see every angry reply they get as a victory.
