Does anyone else find it odd and also a bit cringeworthy the insistence of the iFollow commentator to call us 'the super blues' rather than the Tractor Boys or just the Blues or Town? I'm guessing either he's been told to use it by someone higher up, or he's done minimal research about ITFC. Even if you're not a fan of 'Tractor Boys', I've rarely ever heard 'Super Blues' used.

I don’t like Super Blues, if someone says it I don’t in any way consider it to be talking about Ipswich Town
But the commentator confirmed on Twitter he’s been asked to use this and not Tractor Boys so it is a genuine effort to try and bring it back
I agree, and it's certainly not distinctive unlike the Tractor Boys, which the club may well think doesn't fit with their now slicker set up. If we wanted to be distinctive, and fit with traditions, "Towen" would be good, rather in the way that Newcastle use "Toon". But this might be too Suffolk for the club's liking. And the in-house commentator might struggle with it.

Towen sounds more country-bumkinish than Tractor Boys. And remember, only a small proportion of Town fans actually talk like that, so it doesn't make a lot of sense to adopt it as a nickname.
Tractor Boys is fine, particularly as we used it ourselves by turning around what others thought was an insult. Super Blues has the weight of history, but it does sound a bit naff if you're an adult.
Trust the process. Trust Phil.

Not sure I agree with that - some songs emanating from SBR have a distinct corporate twang to them. The East Anglian dipthong is still clear all rowend the growend.

You need to judge the worldwide fanbase to get a true reflection. Home games by their nature will have more Suffolk people at them due to the ground being in Suffolk!
Just look at Phil's end of year questionnaires to see how many ITFC fans don't live in Ipswich.

I guess if you've not heard it much before, then it will sound odd.. But "Super Blues" was around, long before "Tractor Boys" came along. I prefer "The Towen"... Not that I've given it much thought. But I'll often shout "goowon The Towen", almost as a reflex. Especially if I'm listening on the radio, and we score.
Same. I only ever get off my seat yelling come on town or come on the town or come on Ipswich.

You're probably right on Towen, so Town (without the definite article) would be my preference. Brenner uses it to good effect, and it is less wordy than the others. Interestingly, with the club supposedly keen to engage with the fans, it's perhaps surprising they haven't consulted on this, but perhaps they wouldn't have liked the result. I might add that, like the original poster, I find the use of the Super Blues by the commentator a little jarring/forced.

'Town' works given we're the biggest 'Town' football club.

This was my point, I've seen 'super blues' on things printed out & in 'singing the blues' - but from living outside of suffolk, supporters of other clubs would ask me how have the tractor boys done. Work mates who are Chelsea or Liverpool fans aren't going to ask me how the 'super blues' have done.

"Super blues" is not a nickname at all, is it? Town were one of the few clubs which didn't have a proper nickname, as neither "Town " nor "blues" count as proper nicknames. Watford have always been "the hornets" (or horns for short" but people have taken to calling them "the golden boys", which is a bit naff. "Tractor boys" developed in around 2000 after some derogatory chanting by opposition fans & I've always rather liked it, although everyone is entitled to their own opinion & these things evolve over time. I will never be referring to Town as the "super Blues".
