Got to give it to Greater Anglia, really good service here… on 10:03 - Oct 4 with 2459 views | Steve_M | Standard rather than shocking. Idiots can't even work out that having a bar on the 17:09 on a Saturday would pay for itself. Bad enough they don't do one on a Tuesday night post-match train but Saturday is just stupid.

Got to give it to Greater Anglia, really good service here… on 10:26 - Oct 4 with 2356 views | bracknell_blue | The flipside to this is that if the 22:21 to BSE (which I catch) went through to Cambridge, it would need to be at least 12 carriages, seeing as it is rammed at the best of times. A football special for Cambridge fans should have been a no-brainer.

Got to give it to Greater Anglia, really good service here… on 10:49 - Oct 4 with 2253 views | johnewark | National Rail indicates 21:41 Ipswich arr Cambridge 23:57 (change Norwich) 21:44 Ipswich arr Cambridge 00:51 (change Stratford and Tottenham Hale) Slightly misleading on the part of GA if this is the case. I'll contact them online and find out.

Catering is almost certainly outsourced.

Got to give it to Greater Anglia, really good service here… on 11:32 - Oct 4 with 2066 views | noggin | I was due to be on the 09.45 Ipswich to London tomorrow, which is off prak. That train is now canceled and my only option is a peak morning train. So do I buy a bloody expensive ticket for the earlier train or just chance it?

They have plenty of old stock doing the late services from London all round East Anglia which could have been used as football services (if they wanted to make some money - but they don't)

Chance it, there’s a strike so can probably use any train.

Big bug bear innit. I used to drive back to London on Tuesday nights and fitted work around driving to Ipswich early/mid afternoon and bumming around town. It was just too annoying doing the train. The last train to Cambridge tonight speaks volumes about this country's essential services and companies' disinterest in their customer service. Absolute sh1te. EDIT: I see there's a strike, which probs speaks to the Cambridge service tonight. But doesn't excuse their useless bizarre catering efforts :) [Post edited 4 Oct 2022 12:45]

I was stuck at cambridge a couple of weeks ago on a saturday evening. All the trains got cancelled because they couldnt find drivers. We eventually got back in a taxi - paid for by Greater Anglia though so thanks for that at least!

See my post above- even when not striking their service is shocking.

Because there's never been any trouble on trains with football fans & a supply of alcohol has there...?

On that basis why have they ever served beer on those trains then? Including after evening matches against London clubs.

Rarely. Alcohol isn't banned on trains and it's routinely served on trains throughout the country after football games. It's bl00dy annoying that the bar doesn't open after night games.

You'll be OK, but it's unlikely you can purchase a ticket for tomorrow anyway.

Saw a question about this earlier and GA were advising that there is no easement of off peak restrictions. Might have changed by tomorrow though.

....you won't get through the barriers with an off peak ticket.

They seem to have revised the timetable. Looks like there's a train every hour
