But literally what he was warned would happen

And then has the temerity to finish the interview that we are all in this together. Yes, because of your xenophobic idiocy.

Are you pleased with who it has kept out and the positive impact it has had on the schools and hospitals, etc?

Yes, in general I am if it keeps the criminal element out yes. if we allow in the skills we need yes. As for schools & hospitals yes, they are struggling imagine how much worse they would be if we allowed unplanned migration into this country. I have some good friends who come from Poland & Romania some are ITFC supporters I meet at home & away games. To be fair to this forum I was expecting to put a tin hat on when came on to this site tonight, expecting to be labeled a xenophobic gammon that hasn't happened long may it continue as we all have our views on a range of subjects

More like a clueless idiot.

Do you seriously think that criminals are entering the UK via rubber boats It is not too difficult to get a dodgy EU passport if you are a criminal.

Utter nonsense re schools and hospitals. If there are enough of both without any EU workers then pro rata there should be enough via taxes when they are here. And the reality is they have fewer children and a far less likely to be ill given the average age. Or are we to believe that EU workers are disproportionally pensioners ?

the visa approach is about as much use as a chocolate tea pot. The nature of much of work nowadays is that you cannot plan it months in advance as with a visa. That's why the rest of the EU is happy with free movement and it works.

You are no expressing rational concerns but peddling rightie myths.

What evidence have you that the "criminal element" is now being kept out and wasn't before?

There is certainly plenty of evidence that we are not "allowing in the skills we need".

"As for schools & hospitals yes, they are struggling imagine how much worse they would be if we allowed unplanned migration into this country." Why would allowing in the workers we desperately need or getting the taxation from more workers be detrimental to them? It would help alleviate some of the problems. The reason why nurses, doctors and teachers and other support staff are all going on strike is because of the chronic lack of funding these services are getting. That political austerity choice is nothing to do with immigration.

Are your “good friends who come from Poland & Romania” criminals and overburdening public services? If not, do you think it might be a bit silly to generalise that foreigners you don’t know are?

Indeed - that sort of sweeping generalisation isn't helpful is it?

I do think that a proper conversation on immigration (please note that I consider people seeking refuge as a very different matter) is important, to understand both the good and the bad that can come from it, but that conversation becomes impossible that sort of generalisation gets thrown around.

No, my friends are not criminals, they are very hard working. I was not making a generalisation about people entering this country are all criminals, surely having some checks in place doesn't do any harm. After all we have criminals born in this country, we can do nothing to control.

Unfortunately they will - the German post WW1 myth that theywere 'stabbed in the back'.

If they chose to sit in the corner, fingers jammed into their ears, rocking to and fro muttering 'project fear, master knows best ", then it is unlikely they have come to their senses now, or admit they were conned.

Because I doubt they were conned really. I never met a brexiteer who was not a 'little Englander' who did not express some racist, xenophobic crap.

And I have no doubt they are now signed up as a full members of the 'wokey cokeys' spouting paranoid nonsense about blacks, women, CoE, BBC, NHS, climate change, education, etc.....

Brexit, like Trump, was a chance for normal folk to see how many loonies there are out there

Loonies you say? How about this chap who has caused a public nuisance outside Parliament for 4 years? Brexit has long been done and he is still there. Seems a perfectly well-balanced individual, yes.

What a shame he and his like didn’t bother to find out what Brexit was or meant, how the EU worked or how the U.K. worked, how it’s economy interacted with its trading partners, how business worked across Europe and beyond. They had not a clue.

They still don’t, if the best they can come up with is we are cutting red tape. What red tape? What regulations? Why are they there? Whose are they? What is the impact if you remove them? They’ve no idea. Just rhetoric. What a shame brexiteers high level debate amounted to an inaccurate slogan on a bus.

This idea of we are all in this together deciding what post Brexit looks like is yet another fantasy. No we are not. Six years down the line we have businesses struggling to do business getting around regulations this government has inadvertently imposed upon them through near enough no deal Brexit, no inward investment, a skills shortage, labour shortage and a mountain of debt created by numbskull politicians still wedded to the same failed policies - austerity first and last. Nothing else.

Todays announcement that the UK is bottom of the growth table forG7 counties comes as no surprise. And an interesting article (below) highlights how lying tot the thickos has consequences.

The idea that those lies (40 hospitals, levelling up, Royal Yacht etc) were to be followed through on was never the intention.

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/brexit-eu-immigration-next-wether

The not too bright Truss let it slip when she talked of the need to recruit EU workers. The irony there is that to try to claw back some of what the EU had provided in trade deals would mean tens of thousands of Indians moving to the OK.

The problem with the thickos was that as much as they were encouraged to think for themselves (where possible) they preferred to believe known lies... Johnson, Farage. Rees-Mogg.

The dimwitted ex MEP for Lowestoft who whines that Johnson lied to her. You would think that anyone working in the fishing industry could grasp what he said was an unobtainable lie. The thought that all fish within the UK s 12-mile limit could be caught by UK boats only was absurd. Set aside the obvious flaw that the UK fishing fleet is not big enough, but the fact fish migrate, and the French and others could simply catch those fish as they migrate from the Bay of Biscay spawning grounds). There is also the small matter of where those fish would be sold/landed.

And therein lies the reason for referring to brexiteers as thickos. Stuff that was so obviously a lie/not possible was bleated out by brexiteers. Johnsons lies or reality ? Nothing has changed only that it has become more apparent now that they were lies, as reality hits home.

So as the row back from brexit gathers pace, so it becomes more obvious
