Cricket: Pakistan v England on 11:39 - Dec 5 by Steve_M | That is a brilliant win, a very real chance of losing this in the afternoon but England just kept going. Anderson, Robinson and Stokes were all immense. |
To take 20 wickets on that road of a pitch is remarkable. To score at the rate to have time to take those wickets is amazing, and to risk losing with a brave declaration, just brilliant.

5/11 after tea. That really is no mean feat...

Cricket: Pakistan v England on 11:50 - Dec 5 with 1600 views | gainsboroughblue | Listened to the end in a cold car with connection dropping in and out. Wasn't even sure if the coverage I was listening to was live by the end. England find new astonishing ways to win. I actually thought that declaration was a bit on the cute side to be honest but turned out to be timed to perfection. The absolute right result because from day one it was England who were determined to get a positive result. The way we scored runs at 7 an over across the match and took 20 wickets, not to mention with a side that was hit by a virus the day or so before, is just remarkable. Well done England.

Cricket: Pakistan v England on 11:52 - Dec 5 with 1581 views | jimsymBLUE | I can't remember a better test match victory. Can't deny it, very skeptical about the declaration. It's the old adage of never giving the oppo a chance but if we'd have batted for an extra 5/6 overs it would almost certainly been a draw. We'll come unstuck occasionally playing this way but my word its going to be entertaining. Not that long ago we were having to put up with the likes of Sibley and Burns patting it around at 2 an over with their god awful techniques...I think we'll take this approach!! I realised that Pakistan hadn't scored a lot of runs but hadn't realised it was that few. It stopped being important once Salman and Azhar Ali got out.

That is some performance with bat and ball. Getting any team out twice on that absolute road of a wicket is something. What a glorious win, incredible cricket. Shame Livingstone can't finish the tour, otherwise there can be nothing negative. Silverwood would have had us bat them out of the game and take the draw. Baz never even considered we couldn't win it. Quite superb.

I, too, was dubious and surprised at the declaration but Stokes was spot on. And Waqar Younis suggested, on TMS, that Stokes should be MoM; not for his batting or bowling but for his captaincy.

Astonishing win and great captaincy by Stokes. It was hard not to yell in the office when the final wicket fell. That bottom image IS test cricket! Brilliant stuff.

10 men round the bat if you include the bowler. Gutted if you're on boundary duty

A few days ago the view from Pakistani commentators was that it would take years and years to develop wickets that were better for producing results in Pakistan conditions. .....Something tells me they might bring forward the timetable and manage it by the end of the week.

Look at how that light was rapidly going as the players returned to the pavilion in the clip - looked like it'd have gone in another 5 minutes - "cute" declaration indeed. Also agree with TangledUIBlue re MotM to Stokes for captaincy. Can't remember one as good since Nasser Hussein. It's going to be quite a ride, with very few dull moments

Yes, Atherton did a piece to camera very shortly after the match finished and it looked really dark.

Yes, the only disappointment was that the celebration was put on hold while Pakistan understandably reviewed the final LBW decision. It looked plumb to me, but obviously they were going to review it.
