Not on Town's list of potential strikers.

I'd be surprised.

McKenna already had 6 months to look at him and decided against it. It's quite interesting how many trust McKenna's judgement implicitly but then when it comes to Bonne they seem to ignore it.

Time will tell but I think he will be down McKenna's list of people he's aiming to get this window.

I was just wondering if it were potential "back up" in case we didn't get someone else in as a second striker in this window

I wouldn't have Bonne as first choice in this window but if he were to back up a number one target along side FL I'd be quite happy .He'd offer IMHO a little more than Jackson

At least Bonne would be 100% committed to us, there’s no denying his love for the club but maybe that’s a negative as well as a positive cos he might just be trying too hard. I just don’t know if he’s what we need to give us that extra firepower upfront. It’s a really tough one but if we can get better, we should.

Bonne said McKenna told him ‘Ipswich wasn’t a closed book’.

Ok KM could’ve been pandering to him but doesn’t come across as that sort of guy.

*Only* if we sign another striker as well - not just him as the only striker in in this window.

Goes without saying! Never a number one target etc but an extra option.

Just give him a 6 month deal with a good little wage. Honestly no harm in doing so.

Takes up a squad place though innit.

He could take Jackson's place!

I wouldn’t be averse if he returned. He had a lot of off field issues , prior to that he was banging goals in for fun. He also does a proper closing down of defenders , not this half backed run but then stop before you get to the man.

Changed the game when he came on at Oxford. Would have been great to have been able to chuck him on at Lincoln at the weekend. Still hoping something changes and we bring him home!

He’s better in goal - would save everything including crosses

Let’s be honest, if Bonne wasn’t an Ipswich fan we would not keep having this conversation!

As has been said previously, McKenna had Bonne for six months near enough last season and it didn’t work. From McKennas comments last season the only striker he really rated then was Jackson, who we gave a new contract too. If he wanted Bonne we would have made a move in the summer window.

If Bonne does end up here, and I think that is highly unlikely, then to me it indicates we have missed out on our first choice target(s) again!

Exactly this.. he’s not coming and the clamouring for it is odd considering we know the club didn’t want to do it when he was here and we’re told again by ITK that the club doesn’t want him now as well.
On top of that he isn’t actually that good..

Tried his best to be offside for our goal as I recall.

Ready! Steady! Cook!

We’re now gonna be linked with him every transfer window for the next 10 years

I’m ok with that as long as he’s only being considered as a back up to Batistuta.

No surprise there.

I wonder what went wrong with him at QPR. He did ok at Charlton in the Championship and did ok with us overall, even if the second half of his spell went down hill. When he was bang on form he looked unstoppable. Maybe just a confidence issue?

Cook got the best out of him, McKenna couldn’t. It happens. McKenna has to have something else in his locker than just getting another striker who can fit the system. When the system falters, we need an alternative, Bonne playing on the shoulder is that alternative. To not sign him on a free is somewhere between ignorance and arrogance because if we don’t mix it up a bit more second half of the season, it’s play-offs for us.
