I saw his debut for us v Barnsley ( bloody freezing day) and he wore his trademark blue Town gloves. Bloody awesome player. Welcome home Marcus 💙

A rendition of “ One Marcus Stewart….” For 1 minute, on the 11th minute to on 10:45 - Jan 13 with 3242 views | Churchman | He was one heck of a player. One of those that was actually better in the flesh than he looked on tv. Not a lot of pace, but his awareness of where he was, control, his ability to find space, to pull defenders into places they didn’t want to be and his blink and you’ll miss it finishing was up there with the best. Not the tallest, he could head a ball too as Barnsley found out. Fabulous footballer. I am sure he will get the reception tomorrow that he deserves.

Especially when you consider he was injured for most of his last season. Given his impact at the club, he is up there with the best ITFC players of all time. What a legend. I wish I was going tomorrow!!

Apologies, I didn’t mean any offence, maybe I should have worded it in a way that said hope everyone knows he is being interviewed so people don’t go onto the concourse and miss it!

If he had pace I’m sure he would have played for England. As you say his movement was superb as well as his finishing.

I saw him at Newcastle airport the day after out game there and we were on our way home. It had been St Patrick’s Day and he’d obviously been out on the town after the game , as he walked into the airport lounge sporting a batty St Patrick’s Day big green felt hat … but what struck me was how tiny he was for a striker! I thought, how the hell did he ever score goals with his head? Just shows you it’s all about reading the game and timing. 🎶….. There’s only ONE Marcus Stewart …. 🎶 [Post edited 13 Jan 2023 11:10]

One straight from their kick off!!! I also remember all too well getting back to my mates car to find the window smashed and the radio nicked. The drive home was freezing!!!

I was there as well. As you say he scored almost immediately after Scowie got the first. The following week he then scored against his previous club Huddersfield on his home debut.

Surprised Phil didn’t mention the two goals Marcus scored at Bolton in the play offs, probably the most important he had scored for Town at that point.

I have never understood this argument 're players if they had pace. Sheringham didn't have pace nor did Shearer or Peter Crouch and they all played for England on numerous occasions. He was a great player for us though no doubt about that.

He wore no. 11 for the majority of his time at PR. He only wore 27 for the first half a season.
