Hope the Blue Action move to Cobbold works 11:51 - Jan 17 with 5390 viewscbower

In the Burnley game and the club consider a permanent move. Anything that improves the atmosphere should be welcomed surely. For me, the flags and banners in the Lower North are superb and the more noise, the better. If you want to sit in your seat and watch the game in a more sedate manner (as my old man did in his latter years) then that's fine. There are plenty of season tickets available to you in all other sections of the ground which probably give you a far better view of the game than the Lower North anyway. There's a reason that the Director's box at every ground I've ever been to is located at the side, not behind the goal. The view!
Let's hope Cobbold A Block works, the club sanction a move and BA goes from strength to strength.

Altho being behind a goal can give you some amazing views when you're right in the path of the shot. You also get to see close up in the box action.

All true but if you're a little older and want to sit down, which many do, an alternative location is better. I've been to so many (mainly away games) where people wanting to see from their seat moan about those standing or being lively. It's unavoidable when away but the same is probably happening in the Lower North to some extent. Mind you, the best solution would be safe standing areas anyway.

Initially they floated the idea of a move behind the goal in the Lower North. Didn't go down too well with some. Now looking to move to Cobbold A I believe. Trialling it at Cup game. Article in EADT.

They and the Germans were standing and singing most of the game in block A.
Running to the front after scoring maybe avoided as you can’t get to the front.
There is a platform where a drummer could be placed where both stands can benefit and almost chant in unison.

Cobbold block A should be far better noise wise for BA so that's a positive and they could try to make that section "their own" so to speak given historically I don't believe there's too many season ticket holders there.

However, there's presumably a large stumbling block of cost given the seats there are more expensive so unless club changes its pricing and/or reimburses anyone who currently sits there, are BA happy to pay the additional cost?

You would hope this could be part of pledges the club has made to meet them halfway - the benefits of sitting in those seats don't justify an extra £7 on top of Bobby Robson Lower.

Think this is a really positive move by the way and I'm going to Section A for the Burnley game.

If you are put out by this, I am sure that you could always contact the ticket office, explain the situation, and ask to be moved to an equivalent seat elsewhere - Pioneer R/J for example?

Sure you can move yer ticket if it's a problem.

Speak to the club, am sure they'll be reasonable given the development.

Not a slight on you guys - appreciate it wouldn’t have been just a spur of the moment thing - but seems bizarrely short-sighted from the club.

Are you towards the front or the back?

Towards the back. Waiting to hear from the ticket office for exact seat numbers.

Ideally, and if we can make it a permanent section, we’d want to lead from the front, but as we’re not sure how many will be joining us, we want to take maximum advantage of the roof/acoustics for this trial game.

We requested that the club reserve the whole section to stop what’s happened to you and to avoid any conflict with others, but they didn’t go for it. We raised the point again this morning and they said they wanted to honour ST holders reserved seats first. They said that they’ll take responsibility for any issues that may arise, but that they’re supporting us being there with flags and drums etc.

I always used to think that those seats were the worst to generate atmosphere but then I started going to QPR occasionally and that equivalent block (R block) is great, particularly when they start the call-and-response with the equivalent of section 6 (Q block and P block - clever eh?). They've also just introduced safe standing which makes it even better. One thing though - at Loftus Road R block seats are just about the cheapest in the ground, cheaper than behind the goal I think.

I'm a season ticket holder in the block next to A in the lower Cobbold. I was interested to see if the club has commented about if you are aloud to persistently stand (can't imagine your all going to be sat down..) it feels the stewards around the block are constantly battling to keep everyone seated! I guess it's for the sake of the boxes behind our seats.

Quite a number of kids/family in our block also, very curious to see how this plays out.

On another note, we always have a great view of BA, keep up the great work. I was going to change seat next season but if you lot are moving in I think I'll stay and contribute.

Cheers.

Jokes aside, he’s got a point about the club’s handling of it. There’s enough room to accommodate all types and I’d welcome a dedicated singing section. The club should still have contacted A block regulars before tickets went on sale and at least let them know out of courtesy though. They’ve had since the Rotherham game to organise it properly and someone’s full time job is to be the marketing and fan liaison rep now. They’re not doing the A block regulars any favours by honouring their seat reservations but not keeping them in the loop. Was talking to someone earlier who’s wife and kids have season tickets there. They didn’t know anything about it before I mentioned it and understandably, they don’t want standing or bad language there. Still not seen any official announcement, probably because the club are avoiding backing it publicly. Trialling a new area is more likely to work if the club are transparent and act in advance to reduce any issues on the day though. It doesn’t help the cause if other fans are left frustrated, unnecessarily.
