Air fryers... 13:18 - Feb 3 with 3445 views | bluewein | Are they worth it? Do you have to spend loads to get a really good one? Or. Just a massive con...?

Air fryers... on 13:25 - Feb 3 with 2807 views | Plums | We've had one for abut 8 years. Getting a lot more use at the moment but really good for lots of things - especially crispy items quickly. Our oven is barely used during the week as the air fryer does the job. It's a Philips one and the timer has never worked properly so if I was buying again I'd look elsewhere. If you do buy one, make sure you know how to clean it as this is key to reducing smelly smoke as it ages.

Air fryers... on 13:26 - Feb 3 with 2802 views | Fixed_It | We love ours - and saves having to use the oven which is a major plus with energy prices as they are.

Air fryers... on 13:37 - Feb 3 with 2742 views | GeoffSentence | Excellent and efficient when cooking small quantities of food. Warm up times are short and cooking temperatures can be lowered. Ironically the one thing ours is not very good for is frying.

Air fryers... on 13:56 - Feb 3 with 2654 views | BiGDonnie | I bought one from Costco for about £40 and it's quality. Haven't used the oven in yonks. Highly recommend.

Air fryers... on 13:56 - Feb 3 with 2655 views | geg1992 | Love ours, saves so much time and really nice finish to food too. As an example, I used to cook roast potatoes in the oven for 45-75 mins depending on the oil/fat used. Now in the air fryer it takes 25 minutes and my wife says the potatoes are even better! Also much healthier. Literally takes 2 minutes if that to warm up, noticed it with our smart metre in terms of electricity usage.

Put more food in it then. Or have a bigger air fryer. [Post edited 3 Feb 2023 16:00]

Air fryers... on 16:08 - Feb 3 with 2215 views | OldFart71 | Got mine through Amazon. It was a Tower one. I bought it through their returns section. Although the box was a bit tatty the contents were perfect and as new. It cost me £57 instead of £74 and has been really good. I haven't cooked large meals in it mostly things like battered fish and chips, burgers and sausages. Timings need to be adjusted from those given in the book. Skinny chips about 12 minutes, thick chips 15-17 minutes. Burgers and sausages around 15 minutes. But it's all a bit of try and see.

Its a pretty big one, but the two drawers are just tiny and not practical for a family. They'll be gone within 2 years.

Sounds like the issue is with the model you bought, not the item. Mine is just one large basket and it's great.

Impossible to have had one for 8 years. They only came about during covid. Fact. I got mine in 2020 and we were one of the first. 2020 was the frontier of the air fryer. [Post edited 3 Feb 2023 17:01]

Online manuals, whatever next! I think Junior did but getting her to read it might be another matter....guess I might need to be more involved. BTW hope you saw the link to the punk films on that other thread. [Post edited 3 Feb 2023 17:07]

We have a vegan in the house, which doesn't help with the lack of space!

We have a Ninja that is big enough to hold a 2kg chicken. It cooks the best roast chicken I have ever cooked.

I did a few oven chips last night, 13 minutes and they were absolutely perfect, you'd never get them that good in the oven...
